Nashville Police Shooting

I dunno, Van. I went to watch it because of how you indicated it was one sided, but I gotta tell you, there is a part right there before the police officer shot that the perp turns to the side - he could have been pointing the firearm he supposedly had back at the cop when the cop took the shot.

This is not as clear cut as I had thought it would be at all.

The officer then approaches as if there is a live gun with the assailant.

I do not see the police officer take any defensive posture during his firing (which one would assume he would if a weapon was pointed in his direction) but the assailant clearly turns sideways during his running. Perhaps he is wildly firing or pointing and the cop knew there was little chance of a hit on him, so he paused, and fired back.

I dunno, looked like the turning was a result of the 1st shot to me?

What I saw is some out of shape POS unable to keep up using his gun as a crutch to catch up.

I guess people will see whatever they want. I'm willing to consider both sides. You?

It is possibly 2nd degree murder. It all depends on the gun and if the cop was just in an I want to kill a nigger mode. If he had talked about this with a college who testified to this (million to one) that would be 1st degree.

Conjecture. The video does not look good. I think everyone is concerned by anything in the hand being assumed to be a gun these days. However.. if it was a gun..

The US is the only developed country where running for the police is commonly accepted as a capital offense. This will kill a lot of mentally ill people and bad guys of course.

Perhaps AI will provide a solution. It seems this will just keep happening but without a push-back from the society it will happen a lot more.
It is nearly impossible to bring enough fact based evidence to find guilt of 1st or 2nd degree murder charges in these type cases. Lesser charges are much more likely to bring a guilty verdict, but that doesn't satisfy the guilty by twitter mob crowd.
I am all for getting bad cops off the street, and bad doesn't just mean those with the intent to go out and do harm. Those types are rare. Much more common is the guy/gal who is poorly trained, and/or does not have the proper psychological make up to be a police officer. There are plenty of those nitwits running around. I don't want to hear the job is tough excuse either. Can't hack it, don't do it, simple as that.

The 'mob' are a part of society. Do you want silence or complaint? Pick one, which is healthier.

This is now people work. My point was completely hypothetical, had someone discussed killing the next black guy who runs etc. in advance that should constitute premeditation and intent. It can refer to just a group.

Now the US has a lot of bad cops (plenty of good etc.), few will grasp it living there, woods for the trees etc. relative to other developed nations. And there are plenty of gun crimes in other countries, just they are less lethal.

For example on culture, what you want to have happen. I've lived a lot of my life in the UK and Ireland, a little in the US. Literally I was stopped once in England by police (ever), this was to tell me one of my headlights was out, I did not see it as the area was very well lit at night and 500 yards from my home. Just a friendly thing, told me to go on my way and get a bulb in the morning.

Many US cops see people as money/tickets, some areas better than others. I believe a large part of the US problem is similar to Eastern Europe where cops must hit quotas to fine and a seedyness, through the force and down to even training pervades.

In this case, I don't like what I see in the video but I want to know the facts about the gun etc. I would tell anyone getting too excited not to rush to judgement.
