Trump Makes First Big Mistake

That's your own ignorance and prejudice talking.

for a guy who prides himself on rejecting stereotypes, you just walked right into one.
Is it?

Did I?
Indeed. But compare Japan to America.

Who enjoys a more racially homogenized population? Lower crime rate? And greater income equality, per capita?
The old America is Europe debate.

Norway, Sweden and Denmark - tiny, resource rich, and, as of last year, culturally homogeneous. Germany? Germany is the China of Europe. Germany has forced the deindustrialization of the European periphery for their benefit.

America is neither tiny, resource rich (relative to it's population), culturally homogeneous or an export powerhouse.
Oil revenue accounts for 25% of Norways GDP. Finland, Denmark, Germany and Sweden all enjoy relatively homogeneous populations
Looks to me like you enjoy the idea of homogeneity.

I had to look up exactly what a Neoconservative was.
I guess I ain't as smart as all ya'll in these things.

I found two good references. One from the Encyclopaedia Britannica School and Library Subscribers; the other from the Urban Dictionary.

These should satisfy both sides here.

https://www.britannica.com/topic/neoconservatism

But don't take their word for it.....:D ..... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Neocon

.........The learning just never stops around here @ ET.

I get your point but Christie and Carson were both more then qualified. Pence was chosen over Christie despite both being governors because the neocon wing would raise hell otherwise. It was a concession. It sews up the base but does nothing to bring independents and minorities under the tent. Why it scares me is it proves the neocon wing still wields formidable power. And they are the same sacks of shit that want open borders and free trade

What exactly is wrong with free trade? I happen to be a big proponent of free market capitalism. Apparently so is Donald Trump, because he does A LOT of business overseas. If a company wants to operate overseas why should they have to seek permission from some jerk-off bureaucrat who never worked in business a single day of his life. Did Trump tell his supporters that the Toyota they just bought would cost 45% more under his plan? How about that $400 tv that is now going to cost $600, or that smart phone? All the bs works in rallies but when the bill is due nobody will be happy about it. To top it off, it aint bringing any jobs back anyway.

Second, I see no reason why I should be defending Trump's pick. The Trump supporters but Trump in that position. Don't get testy with the rest of us for the decisions of the guy that YOU nominated.

There's not much to discuss because you're irrationally obtuse about free trade. That exploding trade deficits, a national debt, a decimated middle class and manufacturing sector, and a burgeoning Chinese super-power - built with our jobs - is of no concern to you, speaks to your economic illiteracy.

As for Pence, nobody has demanded you account for him. I can't account for him. I'm not another run-of-the-mill idiot neocon who backs their candidate no matter how bad they sell them out on borders and free trade. For example, GW Bush. If Trump betrays us, then fuck him. We'll toss him out and find someone else to carry the flag. It hasn't gone that far. Pence as VP is a backroom political deal. Which sucks. It's like trading. All we can do is put on big size and hope for a winner. If Trump goes south, we cut our losses and run.

You are positing false alternatives. Leave that to Obama, it's his specialty.

Trump is not against trade. He's just saying it has to be fairer. A good start would be to ditch these multilateral pacts and negotiate bilateral deals with each country. That way we can use access to our market as leverage. You know, like the Chinese do to get unfair advantage now

Looks to me like you don't know how to read.

A statement of fact is not the same as a statement of opinion.

Need I go on?
So your statement of opinion is entirely unrelated to your statement of "fact?" You don't form your opinions based on the "facts" as you perceive them?

at anyrate, Trump just lost the independent vote. Good for us libertarians. Poll shows 40% of bernie supporters will not support Hillary. Meanwhile, Johnson is holding steady at 10%. Pretty pathetic when the republican nominee has to pick a VP just to keep his own party calm. So much for widening the tent. Do republicans ever watch tv or listen to radio or even talk to anybody who is not just like them?
