Tillerson Out

Little Rocket Man is making good progress on his nuke plans but he does not exactly have a fine-tuning knob on some of those rockets. Wait until he sends one that he thinks is going to land off Japan and instead it lands in Simi Valley. That will be an attention-getter for sure.

You know what they say: "A conservative is a liberal who was mugged the night before."
That is the problem. Sooner or later this nitwit will launch a rocket that lands somewhere that will demand a response. Then it's game on. Can we evaporate NK? Of course. But the victory dance will be short lived when they start counting bodies in SK.

Yeh, I know. The only thing that would really get NK's attention is if preparations begin for the evacuation of Seoul . It sounds goofy and far fetched and maybe impossible but I remember thinking about it back during the hurricanes and you know, when you evacuate half the state of florida it makes you think whether it could be done or not.

I don't know. It's tough nut to crack. But yeh, its the short range missiles directed at Soeul/sp that are the problem.

Trump needs to get some things out of his system. One is Tillerson. Nice guy. Not authoritative enough to deal with other countries. The other is China. Trump keeps getting on a high about China. They are North Korea's biggest ally and that is not going to change. I am okay with him dicking around longer because, as you say, if military action comes, it will be very bloody on both sides so it is better to let north korea do some more stupid things to put the moral high ground on our side. That may mean that the Japanese or the Americans will take a hit but that is what we signed up for by letting them get this far along.

All these sanctions and blockades etc are sort of okay but not okay in other ways. It just causes NK to strengthen ties with Russia and Iran. All Rocket Man cares about is getting his military supplies and technical support. If a few million more people starve to death, I don't know if that matters.

It's a game of chicken for sure, and a world game changer. I agree that Kim doesn't give two shits about millions starving, and China is just playing us. Evacuating Seoul would send a definite message, but you got to be ready to go at a moments notice if Kim says fuck it and kicks off his artillery.
Frankly, the bigger problem is the precedent it sets moving forward after the event. Sends the message, nukes are a viable solution. Makes for a much more dangerous world than we're living in now.
I still say a full scale conventional air and missile strike is the best way to handle this. Needs to be done before he has the capability to put a nuke on a missile and that means a preemptive strike on our part in the next year. Casualties will be high, and it will take a little longer, but we can decimate the entire Army and all facilities with these weapons. The longer we wait to take care of what is inevitable, the higher the price we, and the rest of the world will pay.

If this is true, then it is part of a very disturbing pattern typical of very dangerous demagogues in world history. If Mattis goes, we may all be in grave danger. Why don't McConnell and Ryan do something? They are in charge.

I am far from an alarmist, but I have a very uneasy feeling that we are approaching a crisis.

Spot on. And what about all of the destruction that has happened to our diplomacy and relations with our allies? We have lost an immense amount a stature across the world. And for what, Russia? While Trump just handed over Syria to them and Iran.

We have taken an incredible hit with our allies while we are heading for a very dangerous war with North Korea. This next year could be very bad.

Exactly like we decimated Ho Chi Minh's rag tag army by dropping more ordinance on them than in all of world war II and without a single American suffering so much as a scratch. Exactly like our brilliant pre-emptive attack on Iraq before they had a nuclear weapon ready to go. We captured and killed Saddam, after a fair trial of course, defeated his army with shock and awe, brought democracy to the Iraqi people, and stabilized the country against radical Islamic forces without a single loss of life and at practically no cost. Exactly like we defeated the Taliban in Afghanistan, killed Osama and brought peace and prosperity to Afghanistan and stopped terrorism world wide. And now Afghans love us! You Betcha!

While you are correct that Trump is as unpopular with most foreign leaders as he is with the establishment here, that's not a problem I am worrying too much about. They will bend the knee eventually or we will just move on without them. They are all freeloading off us and if they want to let that go, fine with me.

No, not like that at all. It needs to be done with total disregard for collateral damage, and continued 24/7 until they're all fucking dead. Or we can do it your way, wring our hands and send another sternly worded message. When the NK nuke flys, and you can bet you last buck that it will, what then round eye? Whatever happens then will be too little, too late. And it's going to happen, and it's going to happen before your fucking climate change ever comes to fruition. I expect to see it before the end of 2018. Everyone in the fantasy island country of ours is going to have a whole new perspective on what tough times really means.

You act as though American military action has never resulted in some people having a better life.

It has. South Korea is Exhibit A.
