Maine has 4 electoral college votes and a part of Maine was hospitable to Trump's populism. Maine has been solidly Democrat since Reagan's win probably. Achieving the split in the college there for the first time because of a quirk in Maine's laws where it can be split unlike the other 48 states (there is that other similar state) is cute but was it Trump's idea?

I should say, I get the idea, Trump's being the underdog put in more effort. Just I don't see the Maine thing as some genius move.

I see that you have google but what is the original point that I made about Hillary that you are trying to counter or do you even remember or you just want to google around?

My point was that trump assumed that he was bound by the electoral college and campaigned his arse off in any and all places that had electoral votes to be had- within reason, solid lib states not so much, because he was working a strategy- duh. And my point about Hillary was that she did not work her arse off campaigning in general and in some key toss up states in particular. Let me know when you got something new on that which counters those points.

The fact of the matter today's republicans would be viewed as liberal by Reagan's standards, not the other way around. As pointed out, look at Reagan's tax cut compared to the crap that is being pushed today. Its not even close.

She complained endlessly about how white voters who would not vote for anyone who did not look or sound like her or ethnic folks were the cause of people being flaccid about her campaign. Meanthwile, Obama, The Joe Biden, and Bubba were reminding her on an hourly basis that those same white voters in places like Wisconsin and Madison- where she undercampaigned if at all- voted TWICE for a very liberal BLACK GUY.
