The move to invade was not triggered by any threat of WMDs, but by idiot Saddam's intransigence: he refused to kiss Cheney's ass in a timely manner. No lie. (And why should he? He knew there were no missles; he knew *Cheney* (and Rumsfeld, and Powell) knew there were no missles; he knew it was all a charade, but unlike the US hawks, he knew that if he puckered up to Cheney/Bush, that his internal opposition would have his head inside of 6 months.
He screwed himself, and the entire Middle East, when he palled up to US/Cheney 10 years before, and then invaded Kuwait. Idiot. One can only wonder if he'd known of the scale of Iraqi reserves that are known now, what he would've done. Iddddd-diot.

You guys are so ignorant. If it were not for the USA Germany would be ruling the world. There would be no France. Russia would have been defeated. The UK would have been saying "heil hitler" or obliterated. Churchhill knew the war could not, and would not be won without the USA getting involved. That is why he pressed so hard the the US to get involved.
Nevertheless, I say the USA should stay out of all of it. Leave the middle east to figure it out themselves. Close our bases. Pull our troops. From everywhere. Let the rest of the world do whatever it is gonna do. Leave them alone. Don't intervine. Pull out of the UN. Cancel all the trade agreements. Buy no foreign oil. Leave the rest of the world to fiend for themselves. That would suit me. They never appreciate it anyway so let them figure is out.

Unfortunately being the worlds policeman again. We should stay out of these things. We should be isolationist. No good will come from this for USA. Let that part of the world handle their own problems. They been fighting for thousands of years. We cannot solve their problems. Let Europe and the muslims nations deal with this.
