If Jeff is fired I don't think Christie will be in the running for new AG
Trump would never attempt to pardon himself, if the event he needed to, because that would be a conflict of interest. As we all know, attorneys, judges, and politicians always work tirelessly to avoid actual or perceivable conflicts of interest when potentially being involved in a case or decision. Also the prevailing mantra seems to be “Let there be no hypocracy”.
Sarcasm alert for the above statements.
Ultimately, the people will pardon Trump at the polls if it is perceived that he was unjustly treated or if they consider the investigation to be a politically motivated sham. Just like what happened with Bill Clinton. As I understand it, impeaching Trump is one thing, but removing him from office is quite another.
I am all for it.
And then what is Mueller's next move after Trump appears and then pleads the fifth and executive privilege before an interview with mueller or before a grand jury?
I think the real question is what does the congress do after if Trump pleads the fifth.
The reasoning is: Trump won.
Unless one is a binary thinker there can be more than one question.
And if the dems take the house, we know what they want to do and have always wanted to do if Trump were ever elected so let's not waste a lot of analysis and conjecture on what their reasoning might be. The reasoning is: Trump won.
Trump’s fifth amendment fallout would not stop at just a democratic house. By taking the fifth, Trump will be effectively pleading guilty and the public fallout and erosion would be enormous.
