The billionaire's way to die: 12K feet underwater

biden should be pissed that we are spending 10s of millions rescuing super wealthy foreigners who took an extraordinary risk for an extraordinary experience.

I agree with this. The chances of saving (not finding but saving) them was close to zero. Unless the capsule is floating on the surface, there is no way and time to rescue them alive. And even if it is floating, we are talking about an area of the size of Connecticut.

If the CEO was stupid enough not to include a GPD beacon, his business and himself deserves to die.

Ultra net worth men have a tenancy to take risks and do fun/unusual stuff/collect records like Guinness or just personal.

I think they don't get the negative feedback from life for their actions, and they believe they are invincible. Aka falling upward. Look at Trump or Musk. They keep breaking the law and get rewarded for it. They also mistakenly think just because they are good at A, they must be good at B,C and D in life.

Look at the Kennedy family. One died because he was skiing backwards while playing football and hit a tree. On a mountain. That is not even a thing, playing football on ski.

JFK jr. died and took 2 ladies with him because he cheaped out on hiring a pilot for 500 bucks and he overestimated his ability to fly under not so perfect circumstances. He was shortcutting his pilot training because he was too busy and you know, hubris.

The rescue effort is obscene.
They're dead.
They've been dead for days.

A few rich people vs hundreds of poor people?
A few rich people will win.

There are tons and tons and tons of news coverage about the submersible and the rich customers.
But there is very little news about the hundreds of poor people who died in that overloaded fishing boat.

Who knows, the submersible owner doesn't have to pay a cent for the rescue / recovery effort.

They egg each other on. Competition for achievement is all that matters when one has money for thousands of lifetimes. The Shakespeare line "A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero only once" rings loud. Experiences are the only thing that matters at the end.

Sure, except for the real narcissists and psychopaths they take it easy or a lot more carefully when kids are young and need a dad but billionaires are risk takers in some form or another. Also very lucky, which is code for well enough prepared. 130 IQ is a sweet-spot.
