Elon wants to die on Mars. Some other guy has just died next to Titanic. (if they turn up to be alive, my apologies and cancel this thread) Hamis Harding, 58-year-old British adventurer runs Action Aviation, a Dubai-based private jet dealership, and has completed several exploration feats.

"He also said the Titanic dive had been meant to take place in June 2022 but was delayed because "the submersible was unfortunately damaged on its previous dive". He said no-one was injured in the incident.

Asked about his appetite for exploration, he said: "My view is that these are all calculated risks and are well understood before we start."

Mind you, the freaking sub didn't even have physical knobs, just iPads and electronics. Kinda silly to die because of a dead battery or something mundane.

But wait, there is more, another idiot, killing of his son too:

At least he was old and had his life already. But dying with billions when you have another 25 years to go??

They may die but who truly lives anyway? It's a good story to tell in the afterlife. "slipped on a teabag you say? that's nice.. I was crushed at 12,500 feet below the surface 390 miles south of Newfoundland".

At least they died doing what they really really wanted to do in life.

That is a stupid excuse usually for 30 year old rock climbers. If I die in a hail of bullets while robbing a bank, you could use the same silly excuse.

Sometimes you just have to be an idiot. One day I was thinking a cold bottle of coke would be the perfect thing on a very hot and dusty backwater day when I was an AP ranger and I heard the sound of a guy on a tricycle bike with a chiller selling iced drinks. Except he was a long way across a known uncleared mine field. But I just started walking. And it was totally worth it. It was orgasmic and unforgettable.

The walk back however after sating my thirst was scary as hell.. But as men we have often experienced wondering what was in our heads that got us here two seconds after orgasm.

If I had a nickel for all the completely moronic things I have done over the years, simply because I wanted to give it a try, I would be retired instead of thinking I need to work a little longer.
As far as died doing what they wanted to do, I have a friend who is a quadriplegic from doing what he wanted to do. For him it wasn't even something that he hadn't done a few thousand times before, he just didn't execute this one time. He has had pretty nasty, but fortunately short bouts with depression and wishing he had just died. Death isn't the only outcome from going to the edge, sometimes it is what you wish for after pushing to the edge and failing.
