Report: Secret Service Opens Investigation into Kathy Griffin ‘Beheading’ Photo

Somebody should come up with a show called Five O'clock Facts. Where for an hour they simply read facts. It would be so refreshing.

That would be a novel concept, completely alien to modern day journalism. They see their role as guiding us into right thinking, and if that doesn't work, scolding and mocking us.

Then you need to go find all those people who had Obama effigies hanging from trees with nooses. I mean, if you want to be fair.

Unless someone is a direct threat, it's just expression - even if it is vile and vulgar.

I find it troubling that we are at a point where this is a problem and employers have to pull "job offers" from concerns of public outrage. I abhor Ted Nuggent's opinion but he's welcome to have it, and I'll play cat scratch fever loudly any time it comes on.

People should be outraged that Kathie Griffin is on the air from lack of talent period, not because of some shock stunt she pulls.

I find it equally laughable any time someone attacks the craft/skill of another with dissenting opinion...."oh that best selling comedian is no longer funny because he attacks trump....yeah ok buddy".

Well said - on all fronts. I had a good laugh on the outrage over lack of talent for Griffin :)

The polarization of politics is polluting everything now. The industry I work in is predominantly conservative leaning. However, I went to lunch with a mid level manager and she was shyly stating that she was nervous to not join in when her group meetings discuss the "antics of the left" sometimes in their conversation. I was alarmed, not because she feels nervous about giving her opinion, but the fact that there was a political discussion of any sort on business time. Fortunately, I can put a stop to this. Although I'm sure they'll consider me a liberal for doing so!

I'm guilty of talking politics at work (during lunch or breaks) because it's a topic I enjoy but do feel apprehension that I shouldn't, because I have some old school belief that I'm breaking etiquette. It also makes me think I might subconsciously act biased against someone w/polar opposite political beliefs, even if they are competent. I'm sure it doesn't make it comfortable to those whose leanings are being "attacked" either.

I agree 100%, you make one mistake these days, and its game over if your a public figure, granted Griffin's mistake was pretty big but i still think its stupid to immmediately go for someones career, as if these sanctimonious A-holes leading the lynchmobs on twitter would like it if their biggest mistake was broadcast all over the internet for everyone to see.

Who among us can honestly say that if the stupidest thing we have ever said or done was broadcast all over t.v. that we wouldnt risk losing our job.

I always feel people out if its a work related contact, and i try to just be as fair as possible when talking with work related contacts, until i know where they stand, but yeah generally i just dont bother with politics at all if i think it even has the slightest chance of ruining a good contact ive made over the years.

Lefties are pretty guilty of this vigilante justice where they'll contact employers over some twitter feed or facebook post. It's especially troubling when it concerns etertainers/comedians/actors/singers/artists in general.

There's a branch of the right that does it too, don't get me wrong....for latest example look @ #firecolbert controversy.

It's also not as cut and dry. If you have a company you do have an image to uphold and if all your employees are suddenly posting a bunch of racist garbage on the internet, it does send the wrong message, especially if you have stock holders to answer to. But your employees are welcome to have their own thoughts and shouldn't have to walk on eggshells all the time. Your best bet is to hire people with enough sense not to advertise their beliefs in such a public forum. Although doing the complete opposite could also work, "all opinions welcome, if our stock holders don't like it, tough titties".

Thats the problem, places like media matters started this and now its turning in too an arms race, and the right is trying to match the response, pretty soon we will have every single person except maybe Brett Baier, Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper eliminated. Basically anyone with an opinion now has the guillotine waiting over their head for 1 inappropriate remark.
