Rand Paul - Masks are all about Submission not Science

We are failing with masks... that is a fact.
How we would do without them is a guess.

I think people would keep their distance.
and the high risk would be protecting themselves better.

Imagine how bad California would be without a face mask mandate. Arizona saw COVID cases drop 75% when a mask mandate was put into place. Sadly based on the video in the evening news last night there still appears to be many people not following the mask mandate in California.

If its not open for debate?

Then why the hell is covid exploding in California when we are under a face mask mandate...
and everyone wears them indoors... outside the home...

I mean everyone... everywhere... no exceptions...

I have not seen one person with their mask off in the last 90 days in any place I have been to.

2. How do you know face masks are not harming peoples health long term.
If masks were natural then why is everyone always touching them?

Why are masks so unnatural when exercising.
Restaurants and bars only require a mask on entry. I was @ 2 bars on Friday where people weren’t wearing masks indoors after they sat down.

So Tsing Tao --- how much does a face mask cost? A couple bucks for a cloth one. 50 cents or less for a paper one. Many organizations give them away for free -- so pleading poverty is not an alternative. What is a fair price to pay for you to stop transmitting your infection to others? Do you not care enough about others to spend a minimal amount for a face mask during a deadly pandemic?

Basic face masks are effective in stopping the transmission of COVID. At this point this is a fact and not open for debate.

This is a higher grade of stupidity than you normally provide here. You're upping your game.

I've never said I don't wear a mask where it is required. I go to Publix or to Home Depot or to Walmart (I lie, I never go to Walmart) and I wear a mask. It is required.

Shutting down a small hardware store because of COVID, yet keeping Lowes open, that I have a problem with. Requiring me to wear a mask to walk 10 feet from the door in a pub to the booth, but then I can take off the mask is jack-assery.

Do masks effectively reduce transmission of viruses? Sure. Is that effectiveness above a negligible amount? I seriously doubt it.

The guy with the "Tampa Bay Bucs" bandana around his mouth in Publix isn't protecting himself or others no matter what brand of horseshit you want to try to pass on me.

Ok, cool. That's something worth debating imo.

Thanks, man. I just wish some folks who disagreed were open to debating it. The moment they find out I feel that way, its instantly heresy and the shrieking of COVID DENIER!!!1! drowns out all conversation.

that may be the case in San Diego since the court ruling last week...
but... then that is a brand new exception to the rule is it not?

Or... you tell me... maybe its different for you..

do you see people without masks at costco or home depot or shopping.
I work from home lately but when I go into offices I see masks.
(mostly trading for that matter.)
What do you see?

You have no idea "how bad California would be without a face mask mandate". Absolutely no idea. You can hypothesize all day long about it, but it is unprovable without a time machine.

All I know is that NY, NJ, CA, and a whole host of states with mask mandates and partial lockdowns are doing worse than Florida with no mask mandate state-wide, and no lock downs AT ALL.

No, it’s Masks everywhere. Do they work, who knows? I see some even wearing masks while walking on the beach. I got the COVID 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and was sick for 2 weeks with bad flu symptoms. Probably contacted it at a small party or bar. 3 other people got it and another 10 didn’t. It’s all a crap shoot and the data is sketchy to make any concrete assumptions.
