It's so easy, a caveman can do it. Mask mandates are all fine and good. The problem is 'Muricans are too fucking stupid to follow basic common sense.
@jem You mentioned you see people everywhere around you wearing masks.
A.) Have you noticed if the mask is covering both their mouth AND nose? If it doesn't cover the nose, they may as well not wear one. Mask is useless then.
B.) Have you ever noticed the mask wearers in public touching their mask in the front to adjust it? And then even worse, after doing that, rubbing their eyes? If so, masks are useless.
C.) There are some simple rules to follow.
C1 )Wear the fucking mask, pretty please, with sugar on top. Over mouth and nose.
C2 )Use hand sanitizer when you get back into your vehicle after being out in public (if applicable.)
C3)Wash your hands with warm, soapy water when you get home. Use the "sing Happy Birthday song to yourself two times for timing" rule. Anyone remember that? Heh.
C3a.) Don't rub your eyes out in public.
It's the best we can do.
I can guarantee that many many people in those controlled studies did not do all those bits, and skewed the trial results. Why can I guarantee it? Because I have SEEN other people doing it. 'Muricans can't follow simple fucking rules.
If they could, we would not need the fucking lockdowns. And...*gasp* we could all go back to work in the office, or have fun at the amusement park, or whatever!

We're not locking down in Florida. So why do we need the lockdowns? Honest question.
Because people will not follow the rules of C1 - C3A listed above.
Video after video after video in recent days in the news of people in California not wearing masks or following the mask mandate. Videos of buskers on beach boardwalks playing to large non-social distanced crowds with no-one wearing masks, people in malls without masks.... the lists of video evidence goes on and on.
Your claims that everyone in California are using masks is obviously nonsense.... let's take a look the first one in the search for the past week.

1. They know where the spread is and why.
2. They don't share the data.
3. My data is stale... but when I saw the data... a great deal of the spread to the high risk was in multigenerational homes and densely packed neighborhoods and at home spread.
It was happening in democrat not Trump voting areas.

Its a virus its going to spread.
The only logical way to prevent deaths and hospitalizations is prevent the spread to the high risk... via isolation.
