Rand Paul - Masks are all about Submission not Science

Interesting but hardly conclusive.

It could have been a situation where the hard hit places no longer could be hit as hard.
We saw cities get slammed and then later the center of the country.

for instance...
"Second, this analysis did not account for mask ordinances in six cities in non–mask-mandated counties. However, in sensitivity analyses recategorizing nonmandated counties that included cities mandating masks as mandated counties, results were consistent with those in primary analyses, although they were attenuated. In those analyses, after the governor’s executive order, COVID-19 incidence among mandated counties stabilized rather than decreased, and incidence continued to increase among nonmandated counties."

Your video is not playing... but it would not be conclusive anyway.
Infections started trending down everywhere... masks or no mask around that time of year.

What time of year would that be, considering the video didn’t play?

Their precautions were working, until people started getting complacent. I know, I was there.

I can't believe you are actually arguing that putting up barriers to transmission does not work.

I don't think I've ever argued that putting up barriers to transmission does not work.

Things I have argued:

1. The effectiveness of specific barriers of transmission vs. the advertised effectiveness
2. The cost of specific barriers of transmission outweighing the supposed effectiveness of those barriers

You don’t need a lockdown to destroy the economy when 800,000 plus people are filing for unemployment every week because Covid is spreading like wildfire.

We won’t have a healthy economy while Covid is spreading. As transmission goes up, unemployment goes up. It’s observable because it’s real.

Only because the media and government have scared the shit out of everyone with their hysteria. If they hadn't, people would have gone about their lives.

So Tsing Tao --- how much does a face mask cost? A couple bucks for a cloth one. 50 cents or less for a paper one. Many organizations give them away for free -- so pleading poverty is not an alternative. What is a fair price to pay for you to stop transmitting your infection to others? Do you not care enough about others to spend a minimal amount for a face mask during a deadly pandemic?

Basic face masks are effective in stopping the transmission of COVID. At this point this is a fact and not open for debate.

Ok, cool. That's something worth debating imo.

If its not open for debate?

Then why the hell is covid exploding in California when we are under a face mask mandate...
and everyone wears them indoors... outside the home...

I mean everyone... everywhere... no exceptions...

I have not seen one person with their mask off in the last 90 days in any place I have been to.

2. How do you know face masks are not harming peoples health long term.
If masks were natural then why is everyone always touching them?

Why are masks so unnatural when exercising.

Imagine how bad California would be without a face mask mandate. Arizona saw COVID cases drop 75% when a mask mandate was put into place. Sadly based on the video in the evening news last night there still appears to be many people not following the mask mandate in California.
