We're allowed to think whatever we like, so far anyway. And we're allowed to say almost anything we like, but it's true that a few things, when said, will get us into trouble with the law. There are many good reasons, however, to avoid saying some of the things we might be thinking. One of those reasons is because what we say could be considered a display of very bad manners and might suggest a mindset that is not very appealing. If we care about others we care about manners. If we have bad manners, it telegraphs a lack of respect for others. There may be times when that is our intention. Regardless, our manners, good or bad, speak to our mindset of the moment. Claiming later to have changed our mindset is going to be a difficult sell.
As a matter of fact, Mr. Trump's prior, bad manners illustrate how bad manners can lead to a great deal of trouble. And that is exactly as it should be. His prior display of extremely bad manners, on numerous occasions, has telegraphed a lack of respect for others, and he is going to have an extremely difficult time living this ill mannered behavior down. He's gone beyond putting more nails in his coffin. He's now got out the impact wrench and bolted the top firmly down. If he is not extremely guarded in his remarks from here on out, it will be the equivalent of getting out the grinder and cutting the bolt heads off.
