Stop. The percentage of youths "walking around on the street" in the US is virtually non-existent. I don't mind discussing or debating this topic if you'd like, but don't use hyperbole and try to indicate that, just because someone snapped a photo of what is obviously a rare occurrence (hence the reason for the photo) this is an every day thing like it is in Somalia.

I am very much into firearms, have done a lot of training with them, lived in all sorts of firearm friendly states and I have never, ever, ever seen a youth walking around openly with a rifle. It is illegal for a youth to carry a rifle like that - unless that photo was taken on a range or some equivalent.

You have yet to answer a question I once asked you some time ago. You mentioned that you carry a gun with you when you are out with your family for their protection. What about when your children are out on their own? Who is protecting them with guns then? Something of a screen door on a submarine, wouldn't you say?

I don't think the Texan in the photo is necessarily a youth. The point is in-your-face open carry. The point is the ubiquity of guns. Was that not clear? You're the one who brought up youths.

First, my children don't go out to dangerous parts of town on their own. My little one is 7, and he's pretty much either in school, sports, etc or with us.

Second, your question is a little bizarre. It's like saying that if you have a security alarm, and you only arm it at night, it's the same level of safety as if you never armed it. So wearing a gun, by your example, 75% of the time, or even half of the time is the same as never wearing it. Really?

The picture you posted is clearly making reference to youths. Please don't try to back out of it. Both the child in the picture on the left in Somalia, and the apparent little person in the right insinuates youths with weapons. Otherwise they'd just posted some bearded texan guy holding a rifle. Open carry is extremely rare with rifles. It's rare with pistols, even in states that allow it. Usually the people doing so are making a point - it's not an every day occurrence with most folks.

The comparison between Somalia and the United States is so blatantly ridiculous, it screams "agenda" - through hyperbolic example.

In fact, there are a lot of states that allow open carry. For example, Mississippi is an open carry state.

Well, it's like this. Are young children more likely to be accosted when they are in the company of parents or other adults? Or are they more likely to be at risk when they are alone? So you overcompensate when you're with them by carrying because you're undercompensating when you're not with them and no one else is armed and hovering over them protectively? And that balances it all out?

Please put your straw man away. Look at the post I had responded to with that graphic for context. Scatterbrainos wants everyone armed all the time. THAT was HIS point and the point of MY graphic in direct response. YOU brought up Swiss youths all on your own and tried to reshape the argument. Regardless, now you know.
