Multi Monitor Video Card

Quote from gnome:

You need to tell the board what video card you have... any low profile card will be OK so long as it's compatible with your other.

If you're using the onboard video now, you'll have to look inside and tell the board what kind of "slot" you have... probably PCIE or AGP, if any.

I'm not at home right now but I'm pretty sure it's a 128MB ATI x600 card. I'll have to double-check later tonight. Thanks.

If that's what you have, you might be SOL. I just searched eBay and found no PCI cards for ATI.

You can always sell your x600 on eBay and replace it with an Nvidia Quadro NVS 285 PCIEx16... might not be as fast for gaming, but is excellent for dual monitor trading.

Thanks gnome.

If you want a PCI ATI card you can get the ATI x1550 which is based off of the X1300. I just bought a 512MB Diamond Stealth x1550 PCI to go with the ATI 2400 HD PCIE that came with my computer. Works great. I believe the ATI x1550 also comes in a low profile version.

Maybe OP is NOT SOL...

My prior search didn't show any ATI PCI's... when I searched for ATI x1550, there was one for $60, including shipping.

Still might be better to sell his x600. He could get about $30 for it. That's enough for a NVS 285.

just saw an ad for a slimline HP pretty loaded with ram and accessories for 399. Comes with an Nvidia card, forget what one, ad was in USA Today if you want to find it. Anyway, if it has a pci-e 16x slot available, I'm buying this puppy. Will pop a quad card in there. $250 for NVS 440 on Ebay. $450 for whole shebang. Adding another monitor anyway so I will have 5. Perfect!

May have to nuke the Vista however and purchase (or borrow a copy of) XP.

edit: will have to look for that 440 for 175! Aren't all 440's set up for a quad display (max)?

Microsoft has made it very difficult to get rid of vista entirely and install XP. However there is a way. My computer genius technician worked all night but finally figured out how to do it. If any of you want to wipe vista (by the way, it's not a simple matter of reformatting the hard drive by the usual means, as you would think) PM me and i will check with my computer guy and let you know the "trick".

P.S. Vista sucks big time!
