Apparently that's not true. In fact we now have a very good indication that a person doesn't need to know anything at all to become President. And they don't even have to be mentally stable. They just have to be good at playing to low information voters' prejudices and telling them whatever it is they want to hear. Things like,"My favorite book is the Bible," "lock her up," and "we're going to replace Obama care with something fantastic!", "bomb the shit out of terrorists," and build a big beautiful wall and get Mexico to pay for it
What we are learning now is what happens when you have someone with a very serious personality disorder in the Oval Office. Break out the cotton candy. Ringling Bros., Barnum and Bailey is on Pennsylvania Avenue.
As usual, you fail to identify the root cause of how Trump was elected. It wasn't because people were duped by all of his shenanigans. It was because people would rather have taken the chance on someone new rather than risk the same disaster with Hillary that they got with Obama.
