ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Syswizard,

You say 4 ES and 3 NQ...you talking about trades in both at the same time or that you're trade both in the same day while not simultaneously at the same time as in not two positions open at the same time ?

Also, in the beginning of trading the Emini futures (you mentioned you only have 3 months real money trading experience in the Eminis)...you should be concentrating only on one of them and not both unless your trade method is dependent upon some kind'uv correlation between the two.

Yet, if eventually you've gotten yourself into the position where you can only trade one of them...Emini NQ should have priority over Emini ES. The price action of Emini NQ is just better and a lot less games being played out with it than the Emini ES by the big boys.

I think when you drop your position size down to 1 contract, you'll be able to reset and then make the appropriate adjustments...test it and then try again but this time with only 1 contract. Later if things are going well after several months on the 1 contract...gradually move back up the position size.

Good point on the Big Boys (bond traders and market makers ) Frankly I think there is no longer a need for market makers, nothing short of boiler rooms to wipe out stops. I have always wondered if they have a deeper look than the level 2 quotes (10 above and 10 below last price) .

Trading 4 S&P Mini's and 3 Dak's would require a cash account of around 100K and from the statements you have made it is very clear to any real trader your playing with a demo account and my bets are your not around after your demo runs out.

For Day Trader, we can offer up to 25% of SPAN. Margin on all the contracts is only $51,480 or $10,296 for DT.

A $25,000 account could do this.

Look, the micro futures are not going to work...the returns are puny....I may as well go back to programming....which I don't want to do.
I am a hybrid trader, part scalper (1-2 points) and part day swing trader trying to pick up some trends for 4-10 points.
Agree on all points $10 a point on ES may be able to work. Or simply trade NQ instead of ES.

That puts the ratio at over 10% per trade against account. @ 100K Not realistic
I did not say it was a good idea to be long 4+3 or short 4+3, just that you can with a $25,000 account. I personally would not trade more 2 per $25,000, but I'm not a scalper.

Agree ! With all the news infusion and global unrest I just can't wrap my head around anything past day trading. Just my personality .

A little tidbit on ES breakouts that I have noticed... When trading into resistance or support and up pops a large quantity of traders like 1k or greater you can generally see a pickup up in away from it a point or two THEN trading in that direction. Hence not a real regular happening but be aware of it generally a very high probability trade.
