4 or 5 other weapons were recovered at the vics' home. No clarification if these were theirs' or shooters' though headlines point to the shooters'. FWIW: I don't even oppose undocumented owning guns for self-defense on constitutional principle, except there's no way to vet their criminal history.
The neighbors (those murdered) had previously called in complaints about him shooting his gun in his backyard.
Didn't the police check his immigration status during the prior complaints or was he living in America while using a false identity that said he was legally here ???
Also, considering the shooter has crossed the border (illegally) three times...he's probably crossed back over the border considering he seems to have no problems crossing the border.
I knew one legal immigrant from Mexico that did landscaping work on my property in Evanston (north of Chicago)...he sometimes complained about a neighbor harassing his teenage daughter.
I didn't understand why he didn't call the police. Later, I learned that the neighbor knew he was illegal (a shock to me...but known to his boss/the guy I hired) and he was afraid the neighbor would out him for being an illegal immigrant if he called the police on his neighbor for sexual harassment of his daughter.

If I understand the MAGA story correctly, dude has been deported 3x (2x feloniously) and brought a semi-rifle on his 3rd crossing (adding weapons trafficking to the mix) to recreationally shoot his rifle w/in earshot of neighbors after having been warned by the cops already not to do that.
Yep, sounds totally legit.
That then implies the police never checked his immigration status, especially considering there were complaints about his use of a firearm.
In my opinion, it would seem normal (a routine requirement) to check his immigration status when neighbors complained before & prior to him snapping that day he decided on payback to those neighbors...murdering them.

Why would the police check his immigration status? There really is no basis for that but he certainly should have to produce some sort of proof of person, ID. What would have been nice would have been if he had to produce a registration for the gun. That would have been the easiest thing.
local cops in many states don't have access to fed immigration database (nor should they). They do have access to weapons and felony registry. If this dude had he been deported and come back, he'd be a felon. As far as I know, cops have access to fed gun owner db. so a name would point to weapons under said name.

Most cops know the neighborhood they patrol and know if there an unusual number of people living in the community that are illegal immigrants just trying to live a low-profile life.
Police usually leave them alone until there's a problem.
Complaints by neighbors about the guy shooting his guns on his property should have prompted the police to take a closure look at his identity records/gun registration documents.
Further, I was told by a military MP officer stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma...local police in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California do have access to FED immigration database and they do routinely check it when it involves a gun owner even if it's just a "complaint".
Regardless, after the Uvalde mass shooting, we've learned about what they were supposed to do is much different than what they did.
I wouldn't be surprised if the police knew something about the guy that murder his neighbors that should have merited a closer look into his background considering there were complaints about the shooting of a firearm in his backyard before the murder happened.

Told ya so. This had cartel written all over it from the start. This guy is long gone. 5X boarder jumper. He knows just who to call. Easily sneaking across the border works in both directions. With any luck Mexico will give him up as a pawn in some brokered deal. Maybe they'll ask to trade El-Chapo for him.
