So LF, what next?
Probably nothing at this point in time. I already have this system/application working bug-free for years and use it on a daily basis. I would estimate it took me a bit over 5 years on/off to complete with a lot of research and development going into it. A professional firm created it for me. The first version was very, very basic, but as my requirements grew the original version was expanded over the course of three or four new upgrades. I think the main problem is that it grew too complex/big considering the original solution, so instead of expanding the original solution it should have been re-written from scratch on that final iteration.
It consists of many parts. C# application, SQL DB, automated data download from IQFeed/QCollector, Excel as front-end and various Ninjascripts for visualizations and analysis.
The main problem is that it’s slow and cumbersome – especially for intraday updates. But it does work.
My hope was to be able to re-write it in a more efficient and complete solution (everything integrated in one complete framework) and potentially develop it even further with new features (although not a main requirement). I will probably just stick with what I have and if I at one point in the future should have a lot more $$$ in my pocket maybe I will pay a firm to re-write it as per my specifications.
