Why didn't the truly strong and steady one say, "Let's talk?"

Mutiny is unlikely

It takes just two “votes” to launch the missiles. So even if three two-officer ICBM crews refuse to carry out the order, it won’t stop the launch.

I don't think the world is going to be as lucky again.

The man who really saved the world.

On September 26, 1983, just three weeks after the Soviet military had shot down Korean Air Lines Flight 007, Petrov was the duty officer at the command center for the Oko nuclear early-warning system when the system reported that a missile had been launched from the United States, followed by up to five more. Petrov judged the reports to be a false alarm,[3] and his decision is credited with having prevented an erroneous retaliatory nuclear attack on the United States and its NATO allies that could have resulted in large-scale nuclear war. Investigation later confirmed that the Soviet satellite warning system had indeed malfunctioned.[4]

Paul Keating: North Korea could collapse if it gives up nuclear weapons

"A more worldly and competent foreign and defence policy is by far the preferred first line of defence – rather than the default position of relying on expensive but problematic hardware."

Paul Keating has warned that North Korea will never abandon its nuclear weapon program and that this new reality will have to be addressed in the same way as the west sought to contain the former Soviet Union.

... ...

"More than that, it may be, that because the development of nuclear weapons in North Korea has, in a sense, become the raison d'etre of the state, were Kim Jong-Un and his generals to agree to the West's demands, they may not politically survive that acquiescence."

when someone has nukes pointed at your country and threatens to use them.
And talking has failed for 25 years...
Which could be considered appeasement and encourage the lunatic to go forward.
There is no necessarily correct response.

Because our previous presidents were either cowards or traitors to our cause... we are no left with brinksmanship which could lead to war or do nothing which could lead to the same thing.

our previous presidents have left the world in a terrible situation.
and world leaders also share in the blame for arming that sob.

but I hope we can all see what a traitor Obama is to have given Iran billions of dollars and the protection of a treaty to bring their missile program up to speed and bring their nuke program up to the zero lag time for a a bomb.
