Why did God......

Quote from killthesunshine:

"Faith" is nothing more than belief in the odds.

Everytime i step into an airplane i accept REAL risk. I can calculate the real odds.

How do you calculate the odds in a supernatural being?

Not exactly, killthesunshine.

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the convction of things not seen." (Heb 11:1 NIV)

I don't calculate the odds. I weigh and balance the consequences.

and how do you 'WEIGH and balance" the consequences? that smacks of reason to me. not FAITH. how do you accomplish this? you are saying that your belief is REASONABLE?

Quote from stockerup:

Stu, A personal relationship is not blind belief.

The Ireland thing is not nice-- that is extremely sad. It's just another example of how people can use God for their own agenda.

No need to debate anymore-- the conclusion is that we disagree with each other.

One final word: Try seeking out a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He will give you joy and happiness unlike anything you have ever experienced, a new reason and purpose to live, and hope, not only in the life to come, but here and now.

I wish you the best.
Thank you for the best wishes stockerup . If you don't mind though I have my integrity to maintain and the idea of holding personal relationships with fictional dead people is not my idea of a healthy mind.

Having good reason for faith in an air plane staying up is one thing , having no equivalent reason for faith, only a narrative about a man who didn't know anything and a God who deceitfully tricked him, is another. It’s not my idea of good role model
In Genesis God uses people for It’s own deceitful agenda.

Quote from vhehn:

what you feel is just an emotion not unlike a child that has an imaginary friend that he can relate too. it is not based on reality.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/03/070307161756.htm
Every parent of a young child knows how emotionally attached children can become to a soft toy or blanket that they sleep with every night.New research, published today in the international journal Cognition, suggests that this might be because children think the toy or blanket has a unique property or ‘essence’.

That is an amazing statement, Vhen. How can you be so definitively certain? Please enlighten us with your experience.

Vehn speaks from known psychology. YOU speak from understanding of the supernatural.

The key word is experience.

Quote from killthesunshine:

then why the need to 'weight and balance" your experience?

does FAITH need weighing of the consequences?

killthesunshine, Please! Go back and read my post more carefully. I did not say weigh and balance the experience-- I said weigh and balance the consequences.

so, hmm you believe because you are afraid of the consequences of disbelief, or you believe based on experience (and true knowledge, which to YOU is one and the same)?

which is it?
