Who Will Get GOP Nomination

Quote from Hombre:

Right on, there is no difference between GOP and DEM politicians. All are just a bunch of corrupted fags .

Well, except that the former wants to institute economic policies that will reverse the recovery and pitch the US back into recession, and the latter has policies that will advance and strengthen the recovery (think of it as regression vs. progression).

But other than that, yeah, there is no difference.

Oh, and the latter wants to scale back US involvement in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan according to an orderly policy and timetable (ignoring efficacy for the moment), while the GOP wants to... well, we dont' know, they don't have a coherent plan.

So aside from domestic and foreign policy, you're right, there is no difference.

Today's Candidate: PAUL RYAN

Reasons He Will Win: see VP.

Reasons he won't win:
1. Not declared.

2. Yesterday's stunning defeat in NY26 where a Democrat won for the first time in about a half century running against the GOP/Ryan's plan to destroy Medicare as we know it. This tactic is known as "Mediscare", expect a lot more of it.

3. This does not bode well for the GOP in general and pretty much assures 4 more years of O'bama (note: we're using his Irish spelling.)

Of course, we all need to take a deep breath and repeat: "we're running against the Democrats who many times have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory."

Rumored VP: SEAL TEAM 6.

Drinking game: Starting now, it's your choice, get wasted and try to put NY26 behind you.

This just in from the research dept: Medicare beating private insurance.

"Medicare Breaks the Inflation Curve
Today, S&P released data tracking the growth of health care costs which showed that over the year ending March 2011, Medicare spending rose at an annual rate of 2.78%—the lowest rate posted for the Medicare Index in its six-year history. (Hat-tip to Kent Bottles for calling attention to this report on Twitter. This news is, as Bottles says, “very important”, not to mention timely, given the deficit debate in Washington.)

By contrast, over the same 12 months, health care costs covered by commercial insurers rose by 7.57%. Still, as the chart below shows, even these costs (tracked by the “commercial index”) have been falling, down from a peak inflation rate of nearly 10 percent in the 12 months ending in July 2010 to 7.5% in the 12 months ending March 2011."

This could be a dagger in the heart of the GOP/Ryan plan for vouchers to pay for privater insurance. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Dems using this at some point.

Why so angry?

Next Candidate: CAMPAIGN TOUR BUS

Reasons It Will Win:
Shiny, clean and new. Covered in patriotic symbols and slogans that all sound good.

Reasons It Won't Win:
The bus has not made "The Decision". Slogans and sound bites sound nice but it has not taken a position. For example, it wants to cut spending but won't say where to cut.
The bus can't decide if it wants to go to IOWA or ARIZONA. The tour route is secret. Don't know if it has the staying power to last through a campaign. Its last tour way up north was cut short.

Rumored VP: Harley Low Rider

Drinking Game: If the bus "decides" by July1, have a Alaska White.
If you correctly guess the bus's next stop, have 2.

The bus speaks:

“This isn’t a campaign bus. This is a bus to be able to express to America how much we appreciate our foundation and to invite more people to be interested in all that is good about America and to remind ourselves we don’t need to fundamentally transform America, we need to restore what’s good about America.”
