Who will be the Dem candidate?

Quote from dddooo:

You wish... The dems have Mark Warner if you want a southern centrist with executive experience, Russ Feingold if you want a truly intelligent, credible and principled progressive, Wes Clark can certainly do a lot better than 4 years ago... Al Gore could become an immediate front-runner if he chooses to run and he did get more votes in 2000. Re-elect Al Gore message can be very powerful after 8 years of Bushit.

3 years before the last election the conventional thinking was that the dems would undoubtedly nominate Joementum.

What do you mean "I wish" ?

I never said I want the repubs to win.

Al Gore has been beyond bizarre since losing, and Wes Clark doesn't stand a chance. Although Warner/ Feingold may have what it takes to win the election, they won't win the nomination. Not only is Hill way out front, she also has the war chest. She wins it easily. She may be persuaded to bow out though.

D.....

Don't get me wrong, 'cause we've all done it, but I bet you hit the buy button a lot, when you intended to hit sell. Be honest.....

But, of course, I'm sure you get so many good signals from TI that you easily compensate for your mistakes, huh? ;-)

BTW---To those who are holding their breath, I predict Rice will not be on the menu in '08. And if the Republicans put up John McCain, the Dems win. Hillary in '08. She's about what we've earned. Oh well, I'm sure Bill will provide some more fabulous "entertainment".

As high as I may be....and this is the beauty of my campaign policy I still seem to hit the right buttons. As most of us know but are affraid to say out loud. The Chrondo doesn't affect judgement that bad. A little beta blocking is pretty good for trading GOOG. By the way TI (I said it to be consistant) came out with completely new strategies last night :-) There is gold in them thar hills. :-)

and most of all.......

BUSH IS A GREAT GREAT GREAT man

bwaaahhhhaaaawwahhhhahahaha

I see no evidence that the South is more racist than any other region in the U.S.

In the past decade, African-Americans have been migrating back to the South in large numbers. I'm sure most blacks would tell you that as lower income tradesmen and small business owners they feel Birmingham, Memphis, and Atlanta are far more hospitable than living in a housing project in Newark or Detroit. It's funny that liberals in the NorthEast and the West Coast are among the most outspoken critics of Southern race relations yet places like Seattle and Boston and L.A. have NEVER integrated their small minority populations into the economic mainstream.

And BTW: Ronald Reagan who had been divorced and a well known Hollywood playboy, swamped solid family man Jimmy Carter in the
"Bible Belt."

Quote from dddooo:

LOL, you must be out of your mind. She is a black female who never married -surely the winning ticket in the conservative, religious, racist pro-family South. She is also one of the key architects of universally hated and despised Bush's policies, surely that will help her carry Massachusets and California.

IMO,

Hillary has the Dem nomination if she wants it. I don't think she can win nationally though. Too far to the left, and mean!

McCain if he's not too old. He's been looking rather frail lately. He has been catering to the right big time this past year. No way he'd get the nomination otherwise. Our system is pathetic really when a guy has to pretend to support certain views just to get the nomination. That's the way it works though.

McCain beats Hillary, and Repubs keep the White House. Mainly just because the Dems don't have anyone credible enough to take it, even with all the bad feelings towards the Republicans in general.

Obama is too young and inexperienced. Definite contender down the road.

Condi doesn't even consider running for elected office.

Jay

Seems right to me. A lot can change in a couple of years though. You could ask Bush's dad.

McCain is not a lock for the Republican nomination. He is out of step with the activist base of the party on a number of issues like taxes and immigration.

Personally, I like Mitt Romney. Brilliant man, totally decent and a great leader.

I never heard any CW pointing to a well received Lieberman candidacy in '04. I heard a lot of grumbling by Dems about how Cheney wasting Joe (who I like) in the VP debates was a turning point in the election. Being a Jew is a bigger handicap than being black.

As a Jew yourself dddooo you're an oxy-moron. You're pro-Israel but against the action in Iraq. What you'll soon discover is that about 75% of who are anti-Bush because of Iraq, hate Israel's guts. The rantings of Fred Bloggs are actually representative of much sentiment from the left. You seem to be anti-Hillary because she's a hawk in Iraq yet you better wake up to the fact that she's one of the few Democrats of national prominence who'll defend Israel vigorously.

Regarding the "racist" south, Virginia is the ONLY state since Reconstrcution to elect a black as Governor (Douglas Wilder) and that was with an electorate where only 18% were black.

The reason the Dems can't field a winnable candidate is because they have to get past the lunatic fringe, left wing wacko, tree hugging, maggot infested liberal delegates at the national convention. :D

Mark Warner is a lying bastard, just like Clinton. When he was running for Gov in Virginia, he promised he would not raise taxes. Once in office, guess what? He raised taxes (the largest increase EVER). He said it was because when he made his promise he had no idea how bad things were, but he had the real numbers on the budget/deficit DAYS BEFORE he made his promise. To top it all off, within months of raising taxes it turned out the state was running a SURPLUS!! The whole thing was a scam!

Somebody asked why the visceral hate for the Clintons? Well, for me it's stunts like this. Why do they have to lie? IMO, there is othing lower than a goddamn liar.

How come McCain is not a lock because "he is out of step with the activist base" but Hillary is a lock for the democratic nomination even though she is also seriously out of step with the [liberal/progressive] activist base? If anything McCain is moving to the right to secure the nomination but Hillary is not moving to the left, she is moving to the center.

Kerry sniffing around some lately -- most of the stories are confined to New England still. He said he'll make up his mind this fall I think.

Al Gore on cover of Wired Magazine today - The Pro Growth, Pro Tech Fight To Stop Global Warming.

At this point I say no Republican - not Guiliani, Romney, or anyone else has a chance of winning. Bush is too hated and he's soiled the party. May change my tune about this later this year though. It doesn't feel like a recession is imminent -- maybe it will not start until 07 - I am seeing more and more of the bearish commentators suggesting. Also a hot smoggy summer and some weather volatility and hurricanes brings the Warming issue up again.

Bush did do a better than average job yesterday and he's finally gotten some help from his father's people - James Baker.
Possible Bush's poll #s have bottomed or are close to it.

The action in Iraq had nothing to do with Israel, it has not helped Israel and it will hurt Israel. When eventually it proves to be a complete failure you and people like you will be the first to blame jews and israel for the disaster you created. Besides I really don't want and don't expect this country to defend Israel militarilly.

PS I never said I was a jew.

Quote from ssternlight:

Just out of curiousity, why do Republicans hate the Clinton's so much? It seems a rather visceral reaction for so many of them.

Because he won twice and would easily win again.
