What To Expect With A Trump Presidency

It's interesting, even though it's random and probably irrelevant, but I remember reading various sci-fi novels of future Earth, future US, etc. And in some the President is actually called the CEO, not the President. It does make a lot of sense.

Interesting. I sometimes think that one day there will be no nations, just corporations--- say 300 years from now--

I believe congress has more influence over market conditions through taxes, regulations and budgets. Uncertainty is certainly bad for the markets and if democrats close the gap in other elections, you will have more uncertainty.

Agree with the first part of your statement-- but if democrats get in, it will just be obama 2.0-- nothing will change, how to you see uncertainty on the way with a democratic win?

Not talking about president. We have a republican run Congress. If the Democrats make that more even or take control of the house or senate then that would cause more uncertainty than any president. You can blame any president for bad leadership, but there's not much he/she can do without Congress.

So are the presently Republican-controlled House and Senate doing it for you?

Yeah, the guy is brash and in your face-- but people seem to love him as he represents change and improvement for the United States. Letting a businessman (finally) run the nation, makes sense--right?

I recently spoke at a Family Office Investment conference in Palm Beach. I chaired a panel of asset managers and asked the question about a Trump presidency. Overwhelmingly, the managers feared for the stock market should Trump be elected. They expect a massive sell off due to the uncertainty of what to expect with him. They firmly believed that Clinton would be much better for the economy since we already know what to expect with her. This belief was across the board even with the Trump supporters.

Remember, the market hates uncertainty- Trump is uncertainty despite likely being positive for the long run.

Do you consider asset managers as being bright people?

I fully expect the market to start selling off a couple of months prior to the election. It's going to tank whoever the winner is, I think we are in for extreme volatility starting end of summer. The fed know trump would be more troublesome for them look at the way the market is driving to new all time highs for a supreme liquidation.

Once everyone realizes how limited any president is by the office itself, all uncertainty will disappear.
In spite of his bluster, Trump is heavily limited in how much good/damage he can do.
