Well 99% of the people are not truly commies, they are just trying to live a life and feed their families. I travelled there several times and there is no communism crawling in the streets, only in the top levels of government. They love freedom and living a simple life but never get a chance to have it. That is why so many escape to U.S. or surrounding countries because they gave up on the government back in the 1980s when shit collapsed.
It is really sad but U.S. should ignore the 40,000 voters in Southern Florida and really open relations and trade and commerce with Cuba. Instead of offshoring in China, they could do it in Cuba for manufacturing which would bring so much change to the country with jobs and technology and freedoms. It is not like the people are actively voting to keep the system down there, there are no free elections.
The embargo with Cuba is so antiquated when you consider our relations with China, Russia, Pakistan and Afghanistan. U.S. is afraid of a tiny island with no army or economy?
