What are the Dem Commies saying about the situation in Cuba?

Castro’s net worth is estimated to be over $1 billion. Most enterprises he owns are not known.
There is speculation that Fidel Castro owns real estate both in Cuba and overseas, including Havin bank in the UK and many corporations.

His father, Ángel, was a wealthy sugar plantation owner

Fitzgerald -
“Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me.
They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand.
They think, deep in their hearts, that they are better than we are because we had to discover the compensations and refuges of life for ourselves.
Even when they enter deep into our world or sink below us, they still think that they are better than we are. They are different. ” F. Scott Fitzgerald

Hoi polloi means the many, the people. In English it has been given a negative connotation to signify the masses. Synonyms for hoi polloi include "the plebeians" or "plebs", "the rabble", "the masses", "the great unwashed", "riffraff", and "the proles" Wiki

Castro - Early Life
His father, Ángel, was a wealthy sugar plantation owner originally from Spain who did most of his business with the American-owned United Fruit Company, which dominated the agriculture in that region at the time. His mother Lina had been a maid to Ángel's first wife at the time of Fidel's birth.By the time Fidel was 15 his father dissolved his first marriage and wed Fidel's mother. At age 17 Fidel was formally recognized by his father and his name was changed from Ruz to Castro.

The people in the DR view that they have a great culture (they are quite proud of their Spanish heritage & language) but have endured bad government. They still endure some government corruption but not at the level of neighboring Haiti.

As a side note -- the DR is building a "wall" to keep the Haitians out. It was a primary issue in their recent presidential election.

I would note that France was pushed out of Haiti in the Haitian Revolution -- it was not a smooth transfer of power in any manner.

Spain was pushed out of Mexico, South America etc.... it was not a smooth transfer of power... but Spain engaged with their former colonies in trade and exchanges because they realize what they had to gain just like england and the newly independent 13 colonies.

French rich landowning pussies got pushed out and abandoned their colonies because they were getting their ass beat up at home (1800s.. Napoleon).

This is the future that AOC and Progressives want for America...

The 15 Worst Atrocities Committed By Fidel Castro
After decades of ruling over Cuba with an iron fist, borrowing tactics from minds like Hitler and Stalin, Fidel Castro passed away. Technically he wasn’t in power as he passed presidential duties over

But I get, it she's a Hispanic brown that identifies as a social democrat so can't be trusted and must be branded a Marxist-Leninist instead.

Ahh his brother took over like a family member inheriting the throne and then when Raul stepped down their handpicked successor stepped in. Their revolution of the Granma group should have been phased out in the 1970s and 1980s when China was opening up and Soviet UNion was collapsing.

Having worked in the DR -- the people there really hustle. There are a lot of small businesses and the banking system is set up around micro-lending to individuals. So the street vendor selling fruit can someday enhance themselves to owning a retail store someday. Very capitalistic system in the DR in regards to business.

Sadly Cuba could develop the same because despite the shitty dump Castro took on his people you have a generally educated population with a good work ethic (you have to have a good work ethic to continue to work under those shitty conditions). Cuba could become a jewel of the Carribbean:

Adjacent to Caymans means it has the same beaches and water for beautiful resorts. I went to one resort tin the Keys in Cuba and it was 99% Canadians and was pretty nice (run by Melia) but would be awesome once the U.S. is allowed in.

They have basic highway infrastructure and just need a port revitalization and it could become a hub for Latin America.

American and United airlines could invest in the airport and make it a hub for Latin America as well and not be tied to shitty Miami or too far Houston. Look what COPA did in Panama.

Instead of putting auto plants or other manufacturing in Canada or Mexico, you coudl open plants in Cuba with a short transit time on the water to bring in goods direct to ports of Houston, New Orleans, Miami and Charleston. Could require U.S. flag vessels and rebuild the maritime fleets which are used in times of national emergencies.

English is spoken by many people who have tourism jobs. Would be real easy to set up call centers rather than running them all the way to India and Malaysia and Phillippines.

Can turn Guantanamo into a better military base to have a presence in the area with cooperation.

Might take 5 to 10 years but would be nice to have competition with China and Mexico for offshore production and be closer to this region. At least half of Cuba is not even developed and there is plenty of farmland.

Not a new idea, but a very good one. Sadly we have a government that needs boogeymen so they can operate in the shadows of the ever impending threat of said boogeyman. Much more profitable for them personally and personal gain is the game they're in.

Reopening limited travel is fine but trade with Cuba is a grande problema. Obama had the right tune in this respect. We need to be able to spread cultural values in Cuba but not big money stuff. Never forget this same regime that is in power invited live and loaded nuclear missiles into Cuba and pointed directly at the US.

The regime has to go before full on trade.

Fidel's dead, Raul's enjoying retirement, the Soviet Union's gone. Sure Cuba could re-align w/China or Putin. I suppose the Japanese could plan to bomb pearl harbor again too.

Let's not forget the embargo predates the cold war, as it was a response to nationalization of American oil industries on the Island. The Mexicans did the same to us and we get along fine.

The embargo punishes any country's biz w/interests on the island, basically bullying other countries against Cuba. This should at least be scrapped. Keep in mind us not being
