It was my impression that paved roads are the enemy according to the crowd Krugman runs with. Don't paved roads make it easy to use the evil oil-chugging, carbon-emitting automobile for transportation, as opposed to bikes, trains, or whatever the latest eco-fad is? Therefore, one would think that the fact that we are "unpaving" roads would be a very enlightened and promising move according to the Krugman crowd.
The guy is an idiot and the only man in America who is more consistently wrong about EVERYTHING than Alan Greenspan.
I also agree that life/living standards in America are no better and possibly worse than a large number of other advanced nations. This doesn't make Krugman any less wrong though. America DOES NOT have a better pot to piss in. This may have been true for a short period of time in the middle of this century, but is mostly a myth.
