So explain why the required public notification process was not followed in the firing of McCabe? Where is the required OPC supporting documentation? Why was the announcement not scheduled 24 hours in advance? Why was the announcement done at 10pm on a Friday rather than 8-5pm on M-F as required by federal guidelines. Was there something so urgent for the safety of the public that McCabe needed to be fired late on a Friday night two days short of retirement? Something that has never happened in the agency's history.
We covered that yesterday. The time requirements related to due process for his internal notification and hearing which took place, took them right up to the time when he was scheduled to resign voluntarily so as soon as they met all the requirements they summarily dismissed him. No one is hiding the fact that they wanted him out and did not want him to fully benefit from his corrupt service and wanted him tossed immediately after the internal review committee completed all due process requirements. And they did that. As discussed yesterday, if you as a member of the public or a member of the press feel that you did not get some notification then you can complain to the Inspector Generals Office, but those are not essential elements to his removal or the related decision. And he has a right to appeal his removal and he should just go ahead do that.
