I get actually cross with some things, like lazy false equivalence. Whataboutisms making nonsensical moral equivalences between opposing groups for example are a modern mental disease that is running riot in the past few years.
We long ago established that Fascism is bad, cost tens of millions of lives and that should be enough. But because communism is also bad guys drift into excusing one bad with another. Soon fascism is communism and vice versa, anything can be called anything else. To hear GWB, Treefrog and others speak a cat is a cow, it has four legs and a tail.
American "liberals" (and you need to be specific) are not communist in philosophy by a long shot however fascism lovers like to blur the lines between everything, make smoke for cover.

My visualization of the modern liberal is someone getting funding from Soros while wanting to be curled up in Obama’s lap while sucking his left tit.
During my upbringing, there was very limited funding for Liberal causes and many Liberals supported their anti-war, social, environmental causes from the heart.
The money being provided to Liberal causes has strings. Where you have Liberals who don’t really “live with” what they are trying to change, they are easily led astray.
I strongly support Trump because of how far the Left has gone off course from when I was younger. Although the Left of yesteryear were far from perfect, but they were substantive characters who efforts caused great positive social and environmental change against the control of the Right.
It seems to me the Left was become, in general, a bunch of whiny babies who don’t understand struggle, hardship, or hard work. They seek instant gratification for their lazy egos.
Should the Left’s political dreams come true, and allowing for some time thereafer, this generation of Left may yet understand what true hardship really is.
Many people become right wing as they get older. That is a biological fact and without being a smart ass, caused by measurable, diminishing brain function.
Average life expectancy has shot up since 1900, washing hands, better food, dentistry and antibiotics.
The brain however is not lasting so well. There has never been such a large generation of 60-70s guys, grumpy old men, who don't realise their minds have literally degraded.
This is a serious problem because they can vote, they often make bad and selfish (fear based) choices, imposing this on the young who adopt unnatural political tenancies in return. The elderly are on average more easily scammed by conmen, nobody can deny that. In the past one could consider that if a guy was 70, he was doing something right, he had skills to live that long, some smarts. Now anyone can have an extra 30-40 years over a guy 100 years ago.

I agree that people tend to become more Conservative as they age. This is due to the wisdom that are the results of repeated life lessons rather than cognitive decline.
For example, women tend to hold out better than men cognitively as they age, yet women tend to become more conservative.
Fortunately for me, I am not yet at the age where I need to be concerned about mental decline. In addition, my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were all fully functional into their eighties and nineties.
My understanding is that you are in your sixties. I hope you are not going the aging hippy route. In any event, I propose a cognition test for you: Do you see any difference between the modern Liberal versus the Liberals in the Sixties and the Seventies?
I am not in my 60s, my profile shows 52. I hate hippies, except Neil from "The Young Ones" but then only for comedy value.
If it were not for finding trading I would be a vegetable like @gwb-trading from too many years of I.T. consultant work. Ok, not that bad but not good. If you don't use it you lose it, throwing around very large sums of money keeps me feeling the cutting edge of risk and helps me mentally.
I have the money to try at least to preserve my cognitive function, something I am doing. I live in Colombia for several reasons one being access to some cutting edge medicine.
Humans were never meant live past 50-60 naturally, the right to vote should stop at around 72 in my opinion, some get wiser, most get really really stupid and don't realise it or refuse to admit it (afraid, we all feel some). The old can guide the young but not vote and if they are old bastards who's kids don't care about them, they are failures and their opinions not worth anything much to society. Life is cruel.
It is unfair to the young at the moment how easily manipulated minds hang on to power (on average). In 100 years we will have adjusted to this demographic change & medicine will improve to slow neuronal atrophy but now, it is a mess.
There are many studies that show.. hell we all just know that con-men target the elderly and why. Part of the political mitosis is the politicians, particularly Republicans had a new demographic to bullshit. That some Republicans introduced and obstructionist agenda in the later 80s is not new, what was new is it worked as they had the grey vote. Now technology has played a big part in the creating the echo-chamber however it would have taken far longer in a classic voting population, the young and middle aged far more mixed in viewpoint (macro level).
