Jan 7, 2009 - The U.S. budget deficit in 2009 is projected to spike to a record $1.2 trillion, or 8.3% of gross domestic product, the Congressional Budget Office .

So it's Obama's baby even though the deficit was going to hit 1.2 trillion regardless of who was President and mostly because of crashing tax receipts, mandatory spending increases and the bailout led by Bush's Treasury?

LOL

Mandatory spending increases? You mean like the $831 Billion dollar stimulus package Obama signed in Feb 2009?

And quit saying 1.2 Trillion. It ended up being $1.41 Trillion. But I'll tell you what...I'll let you have the crashing tax receipts excuse. That's $400 billion explained away. It's still a trillion dollars that Obama is responsible for.

Wrong again, ARRA contributed 253 billion to the FY 2009 deficit which is why the deficit increased from 1.2 to 1.4. Obama is responsible for 250 billion of it, Bush for the rest.

Doesn't matter that Bush requested it. Democrats had the final say and Obama signed it. It's Obama's baby. Obama and the democrats could simply have said "No way are we going to spend that much"

I have a story for you...there was this kid who asked his parents to buy him this $50k car for his 18th birthday. The parents knew it was more than they could afford, but they broke out the credit cards and got a loan and bought it for him anyway. It was a pretty big burden for them.

Now who bought the car, the kid or the parents? Because according to the logic you just posted, you think the kid bought it. Am I right?

By that logic since republicans took control of the House in 2011 all the debt from 2011 to 2017 belongs to them right and Obama/Democrats are only responsible for debt in 2009 and 2010 ?( Republicans were responsible for most of it anyway since most of that debt was used to pay for Bushs wars,Bushs tax cuts, stabilizing Bushs economy and Bushs medicare expansion)

So you're now giving credit to the republicans for cutting the deficit in half during that time? :)

The deficit was cut due to Obama pulling out of Iraq, raising taxes, cutting military spending and Obama fixing Bushs economy so its kind of hard to give republicans credit for it.
