Trump to Boycott Fox Debate

isn't that really the problem? Everything I know about the world I just learned from tv. I have opinions on Syria based on nothing more than what I have seen on tv. So, if Trump can both bypass the media and control it, that makes him a champion to those of us ignorant oppressed souls living under media domination.

The Media isn't just TV. There are tons and tons of alternative outlets for getting information - reporting on both sides of the political spectrum, with all manner of varieties of militancy.

I'm too old for that. I check out links on ET to get a different view, but it isn't confimed until I hear one of my trusted tv news personalities say it. When I lived out in the sticks my only communication with the outside world was my am radio. And I could get all kinds of stations all over the country. Now one by one all those stations have been bought by conglermerates, and gone fm and are all the same. I don't even need to know what the truth is anymore. I can just watch FOX for an hour and hear their lies and then watch msnbc and listen to their lies on the same subject, and if I still haven't figured out what exactly the truth is by subtracting from both of their lies, I can tune into cnn for a few seconds and figure out what the official lie is, and that is how I learn the truth. If I was younger there certainly would be a much better way.

Trump is the first time I have ever heard all three telling the same lie.

It must be nice to be so prescient. The rest of us have to research topics.

I have to side with trump on this. The first Fox debate was ridiculous. Megyn Kelly was merely the most obvious problem. They were totally in the bag for Bush and desperately trying to tear Trump down. It's the same thing we complain about with the liberal networks, ie all the others.

Republican candidates don't have any real leverage with liberal networks or cable. The situation with Fox is more complicated. Most of the candidates totally depend on fox, but Trump is so powerful, he has leverage over Fox. His supporters are their core audience.

Fox's statement mocking trump was totally unprofessional. Would they ever do that with Obama or hillary? Not on your life. He had no choice but to withdraw after that. Anyone who watches Kelly's show for 15 minutes can see that she is obsessed with Trump and burning to take him down. It's very unprofessional. Hannity by contrast has played it down the middle. I have never been a big fan of his and I liked Kelly, but she has seriously damaged her brand and Fox in the process. Ailes and Fox are in a tough spot, as she is their big new star and they can't just ditch her, but this is really hurting them with their core audience.

By contrast, it doesn't hurt Trump at all. Any debate is a risk for the frontrunner. Trump again dominates the coverage and makes the other candidates look insignificant. Perception matters.

yes it's very nice, I need to know very little before I proceed. I figure I'm proceeding one way or the other so why wait until I know something?

Yes, it was. But Trump hasn't exactly been the personification of honorable, professional debate.

I guess we shall see whether this matters or not.
