The other aspect of this that is just brilliant is that by setting up a feud with Fox News, Trump gives himself a ton of credibility with independents and some democrats. There are far more people who don't watch Fox than who do, and many of them regard it suspiciously. A republican candidate who attacks Fox gets their attention. Trump has already demonstrated far more cross-over appeal than any of the other candidates.
Trump is not risking much to get this advantage. He has Palin and now Jerry Falwell Jr supporting him, and their endorsement means something to the Fox viewer. His supporters have already confounded consultants by shrugging off any and all attacks on him.
They are not likely to be impressed by jibes that he is afraid of Megyn Kelly. They will see a guy standing up to unfair media.
