I think you vastly overestimate the political card that will deal you this time around.
When Obama threatened congress with a shutdown, any and all misfortune or inconvenience that resulted was totally congress' fault. Now, exact same situation, it's suddenly the president's fault.
Trump should not fuck around with this. Cancel DACA and ramp up deportations, particularly of dreamers. They are the worst illegal immigrants because, having lived here for a while on the democrats' welfare plantation, they are full of attitude and a staggering sense of entitlement. They have now taken to lecturing us on what is acceptable policy. Really???
He doesn't need any deal with the cuck congress. They will fold like the cheap lawn chairs they are if a shutdown is imminent. Just to keep them honest, he should hold off on the Afghanistan surge until they act. No money for a wall, we sure can't afford more down the toilet there.

No, but that's a different question. You were talking about great gains that would be had from the Republicans shutting down the government. I pointed out that you might be a bit off on that, and that the political capital the Democrats would get from it might be considerably less than you are squealing in delight over.
Now you're asking me if I think the Republicans will play ball with Trump and shut it down. No, I don't. I wish they would, but I think they are too concerned with their own skins to do what is right for the country. On that issue, they are just as bad as their counterparts on the left.

A clean spending bill is a spending bill funding all sorts of government programs and projects, with no unrelated legislation attached to it. For example, trying to pass immigration law incorporated with budget legislation. That is what a clean bill means.
Trump's wall is just one program he wants funded in the budget. So, if anything, he's completely aligned with the budget legislation. It might not be a program you like, but that's irrelevant. The wall doesn't change law. It's a project to be funded.
So going into 2018 with the govt shut down and credit wrecked,the choice is keep it shut down by voting for republicans or end the shut down by voting for democrats you think republicans keep congress?
