The Founders were BRILLIANT! America is (well, was) great because of the Constitution, BOR, and Electoral College.... unlike anything ever known throughout history... it was the famed "America fired the shot heard around the world". People on-board with the "spirit of America" understand and believe in this. Those who are greedy and consumed with power-lust don't like it.... mostly because "the American way" is to work, achieve, and have based upon your own merits. The Left wants power (even tyrannical or dictatorial power) and control, REGARDLESS, and tries to buy it promising to take from those who earn and give to those who don't in exchange for their vote. And if that doesn't work, destroy everything and start over with them at the wheel.
Not every person recognized as a Founder was brilliant. The Bill of Rights has not changed but the Constitution and electoral college certainly has. Also, the government contrived was drawn from precedent, mainly the English system.
As this discussion is about the electoral college, it’s especially important to note that only large property owners were allowed to vote in presidential elections at the nation’s beginning.
You have to understand the electoral college was originally a tool to keep only the wealthiest Americans choosing the president. The college was originally supposed to be a deliberative effort. As our nation evolved and voting rights expanded the electoral college was a second thought for many, many years, as the popular vote regularly aligned with the electoral college.
We are now in a time in our history where one party will most likely not win the popular vote in most presidential elections going forward as it’s a real problem for governance. Republicans now have to govern as a minority over a majority. That will eventually lead to discontent.
