To make us feel better, billionaire proves they can be idiots too

Please don't entertain this BS. Chinese exploited by Americans? What a joke... Last time during the railway construction perhaps. Like 150 years ago. China made up for that with lies and theft on a massive scale. Re other countries like Vietnam or Cambodia or Thailand, those countries would be absolute dumps if multinationals were not operating there and creating mass employment. It's the job of those countries to move up the value chain not the job of America or Europe. But instead those countries, or should I say the corrupt cronies on top, rather continue to enrich themselves via running large scale prostitution operations and drug chemical shipments. We have to stop taking responsibility for all the ills of the world. We can enforce our companies to adhere to certain minimum standards even when operating abroad, I am all in for this. Even if a third world country does not enforce a minimum wage perhaps our nations can enforce one for our corporations. It will make our corporations think twice whether it is beneficial to run sweatshops in Thailand or Cambodia or Bangladesh or rather produce at home.

What I am saying is that I am all for not taking responsibility for all the ills of the world but at the same time I also favor more enforcement of the behavior we should be responsible for. Not sure this explanation makes sense...

How is it exploitation? Are American companies forcing them to work?

He had to try the Chinese university entry exam 4 times. He tried to get into Harvard business school 10 times. Doesn't sound like the most brilliant ever. Not to mention a really smart guy recognizes when he is out of his element. He even says it in the video: "I am not a tech guy."

Well, maybe then he shouldn't express his opinion on tech.

By the way Apple and Amazon both started in a garage too.

Do you like his 996 theory of working too? (9 to 9, 6 times a week)
In that regard, Steve Jobs dropped out of Reed liberal art degree, not a tech guy either. Steve wasn't shy to express his opinion on tech either.

I am pretty sure about these facts, but If I am wrong, please feel free to correct me.

Phillips invented the CD, but Sony mass-produced out and sold more than anyone when the technology started being widespread. Netscape created the first eCommerce transaction (SSL), and Amazon crushed it and still does until today. Cars were mass-produced in the USA, and Europeans and Japanese made it more fuel and size efficient. Xerox invented Xerox Machine, and the years later Toshiba and Canon have surpassed them in sales for the same technology. Motorola developed the first handheld mobile phone, then Blackberry ruled the market for a while, and now it's Apple and Android devices.

You don't always have to be the first to make things better. Copying and improving is the way of the world when it comes to innovations.
Moral of the story, you cannot rest on your laurels or stop improving. Someone will sure to catch up and surpass you if you stop. Whether they steal or they invent it second make no difference.

Well they accuse Mr T of being a dictator and love to compare him to Hitler. He wants to but can’t build the wall. Now what? Why you suppose they (the liberals) don’t want a wall? It ain’t cause they “love” the latinos trying to get here.
@GRULSTMRNN lives in HK, he doesn't give a damn about our wall.

I see this nowadays all the time, where small companies would create something unique and bigger companies would come and create the same thing but have a limitless marketing budget. That gives the bigger companies the edge to further develop the product, and get more subscribers. So in the end, it's not just a question of resting on your laurels, but truly have the skills and funds to market it and be known for that product or service ASAP.

In that regard, Steve Jobs dropped out of Reed liberal art degree,

Because he realized he is more interested in tech? The point is it was his decision and he did make it into the uni. This guy couldn't pass the entry exam.

Yes, Jobs dropped out because he didn't want to spend his parents' money attending college (they were not wealthy and could ill afford his tuitions and living expenses).

There are similarity between the two: Jobs cofounded Apple, the real technical brain behind Apple was Wozniak. Ma cofounded Alibaba, the real technical brain behind was someone else.

A successful business person is mostly not a technical genius but someone who is able to sense opportunity and figures out a way to take advantage, an integrator. Most technical genius cannot but an integrator can.
