Those of us who had decent health care in 2009 have been ripped off
By Jack Hellner
In 2009, the healthcare system was working reasonably well for around 85% of us. Instead of trying to address the problems of those that weren't covered, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, the American Medical Association, hospitals, and insurance companies chose to rework the system for all of us.

They wrote a 2,000-plus-page law with over 10,000 pages of regulations and 20 new taxes. On order to pass the bill they continually lied to the people that if they liked their plan and doctor they could keep them and it would lower premiums. They knew this wasn't true because they dictated exactly what had to be in the policies to please the government. The CBO dutifully estimated that 26 million would be covered by 2016 and that the 10 year cost would be less than $1 trillion. Within three years, the estimate was over $2 trillion and only 11 million were covered. The government bribed the states with 100% coverage of Medicaid expansion for awhile. The media gladly repeated the lies about Obamacare and supported it every step of the way

Now that costs have exploded, choice has been taken away, Medicaid costs are uncontrollable and the exchanges are collapsing, Durbin and the others say 'don't repeal.' They blame Republicans for the collapse and repeat Congressional Budge Office numbers as gospel. And again, the media just repeats Democrats' talking points and CBO numbers with no questions asked.

It is sure hard to stop entitlements when they start because there are always victims. It is no wonder we are broke because once a program starts, no matter how it performs, it is always expanded and anyone who wants to stop, change or control it is ripped to ribbons as mean-spirited. We are greatly harming our children (that Democrats always pretend they care about) with massive debt.

We need our freedom back.

People like Obamacare. Facts and reality have a liberal bias.
Do you have Obama care? Did you have health care insurance in the US prior to Obama care? Did you even read the OP before you made your ridiculous post?

People like Obamacare. Facts and reality have a liberal bias.

The only people who like Obama care are the small percentage who couldn't get insurance or want a hand out.

The majority of people who's insurance costs/premiums that have skyrocketed having to pay for the above, hate it.

Actually I don't like Obamacare. Since it was implemented my rates have gone up drastically and my company states that the high premium increases are directly attributable to ACA. We also have seen our coverage diminish. All my neighbors in RTP are in the same boat.

My primary thought (and I have stated this before) is that universal health coverage is deemed a proper goal for society in the U.S. then it would be better to implement a single-payer public health plan similar to the U.K., Germany, Canada, etc. It would be much more cost effective and our overall health costs would be lower.

More people like Obamacare than not.

Chuck Schumer Says Senate Democrats Are Open To Single-Payer Health Care
The Democratic party was “too cautious” in the past, he said.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) argued Sunday that it’s time for the Democratic party to take a “bold” approach on economic issues, adding a single-payer health care system is “on the table.”

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Schumer previewed the economic agenda his party plans to roll out this week. He acknowledged that Democrats failed to win over voters in the 2016 election with a clear economic message, and said his coalition plans to change that.

“We were too cautious, we were too namby-pamby, this is sharp, bold and will appeal to both the old Obama coalition ... and the Democratic voters who deserted us for Trump,” he said.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos pressed Schumer on whether that would include support for a single-payer health care system, in which the government, rather than private insurance companies, would pay for care.

“We’re going to look at broader things [for health care],” he said. “Single-payer is one of them.. Many things are on the table. Medicare for people above 55 is on the table. A buy-in to Medicare is on the table. Buy-in to Medicaid is on the table. On the broader issues, we will start examining them once we stabilize the [health care] system.”
