At one time, Smurf had quite the following and accurate calls----not sure what happened to him. I read the Smurfer and he was very good up untill last year---- like someone was influencing him or something. Smurf remains to have made the most accurate calls I have seen, too bad. This is it for him, back to the truck.

Dwarf

I guess the stress triggered your multiple personality disorder again, eh nutjob?

But that is the saddest part, the original position WASN'T bad. It is the luck of profittaking what screwed up the trade.

In the previous downmove and up of the market the position went from +380 to -20 and I guess Surf wanted to break THAT record now letting this time from +190 to -190 at today's close.

I dont understand letting a very profitable trade turn into a loser either. Some kind of trailing stop and reentry system seems more plausible but I guess these fund types have high pain thresholds.

At this point we have to ask Surf what is the point of this Journal, because making profits or moneymanagement aren't...

This latest adventure is another attempt at predicting (happens all the time in ET), which, if successful immediately, could have raised the adventurer's stature immensely in the eyes of quite a few.

Moneymanagement is out of the deal ... making profits (plural) is out of the deal while hopefully making an immense profit (singular) to make a loud statement seems to be in ... except that it still trails very far behind the smug chest thumping easily heard right off the beach.

There's nothing wrong with making predictions ... the problem lies in getting the timing right.

Try again.

The most important question in my mind is:

Where is Annaland? :)

Joking aside, since Surf's year-to-date P/L with this latest adventure just went in the red, here is a simple idea so he doesn't have to try to play this "non-trending" market on his own.
(Speaking of non-existing trends, that would indicate to me a fluctuating market and when markets fluctuate, the only way to make money is keep taking profits and repositioning, well, nevermind, I am getting distracted here.)

So Surf, divide your trading account into 4-6 parts. Closely MONITOR and COPY the following guys' trades in the ES thread: Apex, Mbusch, Buy1Sell2, Lance Carson (at least 2 of them long term players) etc. I mean there are guys who post here profitable trades free of charge. Let's throw in my journal, which is also very easy to follow, and ola! You have profits to make a living, no brainwork needed.

Just a thought, since you know, I like you...

Surfer lives in Annaland--MarketAnnaSurferLand---Check his profile. Where he finds these people, heaven only knows--but Im happy for him, not been himself recently I heard. LMAO!

Seriously, has anyone heard from him? I hope he is just taking a break from this loss and nothing worse--it's unlike him not to respond.

Missla

How sweet, the ET community is concerned about surf…and his trading. I guess I would be too if I didn’t….anyhow, he washed off the shore of annaland but maybe he’ll respond if the tide is right and he’s fortunate enough to return.

Amen.

Guys,

I fully understand all the super-ninja-warrior-trader vultures coming out to circle, it's practically an ET tradition. If you've gotten in your licks, move on. No use keep repeating yourself and reveal the small person you are. If you are here to offer something constructive as some have, then thanks for stopping by, helping out a fellow trader, and showing a little class. This thread is about trading, not dumping on others. Thanks.

I agree. I guess some people just find it fulfilling to see others fail and blow out.

No, not really.

Actually it's pretty boring to see someone do the same thing over and over and over and over again, always hoping for a different result, but more often than not, getting the same bad one.

You'd think people would eventually learn, but actually, they don't.

That reference isn't just to Surf and his trading, BTW. Most people just don't change what they do, even though it doesn't produce anything even remotely resembling a good result.
