The Limits of 'Made in America' Economics

Americans as a people are lost, we should cherish the values of our ancestors.
Our lost generation isn't the millennial, it's the one after them.

What stop a statesman like him to be elected the top job would be: Just unexplainable?

Who could blame the people who felt abandoned and ignored by the major parties for reaching in despair for a candidate who offered oversimplified answers to infinitely complex questions and managed to entertain them in the process? With hindsight, it is clear that we all but ensured the rise of Donald Trump.

I've never believed the top job is the presidency. I'm much more informed.

P.S. I think almost every senator/congressman is troubling.
They sell their souls for money, yet preach to the poor. I'd ask how they sleep at night but I know the answer..... like a baby.

Are you implying that the president usually is elected by only around 50% voters, however the whole congress is elected by 100% voters?

Interestingly, Friedman endorsed "a negative income tax to help low-income persons, a taxation of the prosperous to transfer income to the poor." - Capitalism and Freedom by Friedman, 1962

Perhaps that is a thing some voters and politicians nowadays do not quite understand well. :)

To counter OBOR, India and Japan propose Asia-Africa sea corridor
The two governments hope that the project would be cheaper option and have a smaller carbon footprint when compared to China’s One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative. http://indianexpress.com/article/ex...pan-propose-asia-africa-sea-corridor-4681749/

Behind China’s $1 Trillion Plan to Shake Up the Economic Order

By JANE PERLEZ and YUFAN HUANGMAY 13, 2017

Mr. Xi’s plan stands in stark contrast to President Trump and his “America First” mantra. The Trump administration walked away from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the American-led trade pact that was envisioned as a buttress against China’s growing influence.

“Pursuing protectionism is just like locking oneself in a dark room,” Mr. Xi told business leaders at the World Economic Forum in January.

... ...

Along with the economic boost, tiny Laos, a landlocked country with six million people, is a linchpin in Beijing’s strategy to chip away at American power in Southeast Asia. After Mr. Trump abandoned the Trans-Pacific Partnership in January, American influence in the region is seen to be waning. The rail line through Laos would provide a link to countries that China wants to bring firmly into its fold.
