I have no idea why people care what other people think. Look, there are people even today that believe the Earth is flat.
No one gives two shits what you or I believe. For the most part, we can choose to believe whatever we want (we have to be careful when it comes to decisions about our children. Those may be unlawful.) Unicorns, Superheroes, Prime Movers, etc! Where there is a problem is when our children come together in a public school. In this case, I don't want my children being taught that Creationism is a legitimate alternative to Darwinism. I am not saying you are wrong, I am saying I don't want my tax dollars going to that. I am not saying your tax dollars can go to whatever you want.
Or when laws are being made that affect what my daughter can or can't do with her body. Or what I can or can't do with my genitals. Or that you are treated the same way in an airplane that you are without fear or racial generalization. Or what I choose to do on my Sunday mornings.
From a philosophical point of view, this is the most difficult question that can be asked, "what started it all"? All that science says is that it doesn't know. Scientists, being people, also go one step further. In
every instance where we have not known the answer and have attributed to one God or another, as we have progressed in knowledge we have explained one phenomena or another that could not be explained without attributing it to God. So human beings are very much affected by experience.
The reason that assistance and initial cause is so hard is that it cannot be resolved without infinite regress. Even if God appeared to every scientist on Earth and it was clear that it was God, it wouldn't help. We would still have the problem of how God came to be. If then God sat down and had a conversation with scientists, I am certain that conversation would involve mathematics, physics, etc. When asked how he came to be, I am 100% certain the answer would not be "I have always been", but more along the lines of a possible scientific theory.
No matter what, unless the details were laid out, if it didn't make sense, we would dismiss God's answer, EVEN IF WE KNEW HE WAS GOD!
