Hi everyone. I was thinking which films had the biggest plot twist / surprise endings of all time. I have a few Iâve seen in mind, but there are tons of othersâ¦. Here is my list. What do you guys think?
Planet of the Apes 1968
Diabolique 1955 â¦. (a true shocker and top thrillerâ¦. Forget the 96â remake with Sharon Stoneâ¦.. junk)
The Usual Suspects 1995
Psycho 1960... This Hitchcock classic was made in order to better âDiaboliqueââ¦. Hitchcock after seeing the script for Diabolique went nuts and jumped on the phone to get the screen rights⦠got beat by someone else by 30 minutes!! Majority of critics still say Diabolique is better (I agree)
The Sixth Sense 1999
Well those are my fav shocker endings.

Hmm, haven't seen diabolique-have to say iI saw the "Psycho" ending a mile away though.

I didn't actually realise Bruce Willis' character was dead, even AFTER the movie finished first time I watched it, i thought he was having a mental breakdown or something. Great film, though.
As for plot twists, i still don't know what the heck was supposed to have happened in Tim Burtons remake of "Planet of the apes"-maybe plot twists can be a bit too twisty sometimes.

Just saw the trailer for a new film called Australia. Its got Oscar written all over it with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman playing the Streep and Redford parts in Out of Africa which it seems to have a passing resemblence to. From the trailer the cinematography looks epic. I like trailers, at the movies not from television, almost as much as the films but hate how they keep taking more liberties with commercials for television shows.
Considering the latest developments in the markets regarding financials , and this being a film thread..... well, its only logical I post this clip.....

Great comment . . . my call is that it's going to be what I call a "watchable" film. It looks to me like one of those movies that keeps your attention, and is memorable, but not quite Best Picture material. . . kind of like Baz's "Moulin Rouge." It'll be spectacular to look at, that's for sure.
Anyone plan on seeing Bill Maher's new film on religions?
Gotta see that. Maher is about the most rational person on the planet, save his associating with Ann Coulter. ONe of the best bits he ever did in his routines is where he cites how on primitive islands isn't it a coincidence that it was always the virgins that they sacrificed.
Just saw City of Embers last night. The trailer was better than the film. Bill Murray and Tim Robbins were what made me want to see it but their contributions were minimal.
