The Fed aside, ...... MRNA

Actual mRNA technology holds significant promise. Long before Covid was a thing, Duke University and others were using mRNA technology on glioblastomas and other malignant cancers.

Done properly, mRNA takes a long time to test and work through the trial process. It's still only effective for glioblastomas on a small percentage of patients with specific genetic markers. They can spend a fortune pulling a few more percentage points out of some of these trials.

Lololol I swear CNBC had nothing to do with it I did the work

I saw the interview on CNBC then did my own research.
Don't you think the interview might have biased your thinking?
What metrics did you research?
Did you compare them with other pharma?

I remember the day it was included in the S&P 500 it was around $225 and it went straight to near $500. That day some analysts downgraded and one even said it was going $100-$150 since he believed it was a 1 trick pony.

Plus you have the bad trend of Biotech stocks being obliterated since Feb 2021. The XBI is down 57% which doesn't help. This thing has been a sell since it broke below $349 in Oct 2021. I think its a tradeable buy above the March highs of $188.

Fundamentally it doesn't make sense but look at BNTC it trades at a P/E of 3.4 even cheaper than Moderna. I think investors have no interest in buying stocks that they deemed benefited from the pandemic. That's the bottom line.

They killed earnings, over $9 a share vs $5.85 estimate.

The stock is trading at a Forward PE of 16, and that is before this mornings earnings news. The CEO was on CNBC today talking about their pipeline for 2022 and stated that the back half of the year is going to be stronger than the front half. I would expect lots of analyst estimate increases today.
They've got $47 a share in cash

What am i missing?

I bought it today pre market at $152.50.
very good decision in my view. A lot of people associate this new company with Covid so they think it will go as covid goes -- a flash in the pan of life. Not so of course. Moderna has many irons in the fire.

A startup like Moderna might have taken years to develop to the point they are at today, but fortuitous timing pushed their m-RNA technology to the forefront of molecular biology just as it was desperately needed to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. And the pandemic rained money on them. I expect great things to come, as fate has given them a huge head start.

In my opinion, you should treat it as a longer term investment, ride out the up and downs. I am confident MRNA is going to make you very happy.

That's absolutely true. Investors and traders are not molecular biologists. That's true as well.

I am extremely wary of reading news from CNBC.
It is one of the worst places to get the news.

It can cause serious mind contamination.
After the mind is contaminated, you have to do deep mind cleansing.

Do note that those people are professional talkers,
not professional day traders.
