I always have a look at this website during my preflight check. It rates news items in terms of their expected impact on the currencies.
I just make a note of the ones affecting the USD, note the times, and mark them on the chart, using the same colour coding they've adopted. I've not looked into correlations etc and I don't let it influence my MADA.
I'm sure you're right, and a lot of the news items have little impact. I just like to be aware of what's happening.

Hadn't seen that site. It is always interesting to reflect on how the people who run these various venues come up with their 'conclusions'. Barron's and Economy.com (now part of the Moody's happy family) do a similar thing but are much less specific. Don't know that I agree with your using the USD as some sort of leading pulsimeter but who knows. I agree that one should be aware when the 'results' of these various measurements are to be announced but even then one MUST ask, 'Is this really new news?' or did the smarties know what the number was going to be before it was announced and thus are jerking people around (as pe usual).
