I have a theory that those who prefer meat over sweets would be more inclined to be persuaded by a low carb diet like Atkins, while those who prefer sweets would be persuaded more by a low fat diet like Ornish. For example, I could live without meat for the rest of my life, but candy is a lot more tempting. And I'm much more convinced of the healthiness of a low fat diet over low carb. What do you think?

Actually people who crave sweets would probably benefit the most from a low carb diet. Sweet cravings are generally caused by insulin imbalance and diets like Atkins can correct that. I have a sweet tooth and the times I've been on Atkins it goes away almost completely.

So Slapshot, I'm curious.
Since you seem to take great delight in the sarcastic ridicule of those who don't share your beliefs, just what background training is it that allows you to hold yourself up as the expert in this topic?

I've talked about science, while you seem to have little to offer to support your ideas. Oh, and the popular press doesn't count.

You have'nt talked science you a vague unsupported opinion..i nipped it in the bud :)

we've been thru all this in past axe

The processes of deamination, and the production of ketone bodies in the absence of glucose are not "vague, unsupported opinions" of any sort.
They are called (ready?):
Aspects of...Biochemistry.

You nipped nothing in the bud, you simply answered as you always do - with flip, off-handed remarks, having no factual base or substance.

Oh, and you didn't answer my question, "axe," but then that's typical of your responses.

So come on, "axe," what qualifications do you posses for giving your views on this subject?

Can you speak with more clarity.. what are you driving at?? That a state of ketosis is healthy??

"what qualifications do you possess for giving your views on this subject?" seems pretty clear to me . . . :(

i mean this little tidbit:

"The processes of deamination, and the production of ketone bodies in the absence of glucose are not "vague, unsupported opinions" of any sort.

What's the point??

Ummm trader56.... not sure why longshot is referring to you
as "axe". Must be the lack of protein rotting his brain :D

Let me just point out that there is no point in arguing with
someone as closeminded as him. I have had him on ignore
for MONTHS. I hate it when people quote him because then
I end up reading his drivel again.

In any case.... Longshot is convinced he knows EVERYTHING
about diet and everyone else in the world is a complete idiot
no matter what the studies say.

He was even stupid enough to attempt to compare the
Ornish plan head to head with other DIETS, even though
the Ornish plan was not only a diet, but a complete lifestyle
change plan. This included quitting smoking, counseling to reduce
stress and excercise.

He clearly lacks the most BASIC of statistical capability since
he would NOT admit this was not a fair comparison.

He also likes to run around with his strawman fallacies and pretend
that I and others fully supported the Atkins diet when this was
actually not the case at all, and then claim we were wrong.
Its quite funny how completely delusional he is, but we really
got sick of it. You know longshot is wrong when he starts
attacking you constantly and stalking you on ET like he does me :D

In any case.... im staying out of this, because arguing with
Longshot is like arguing with a brick wall. No matter how many
times he is proven wrong, he will simply just openly attack you
over and over again. Its pointless.

Check my tagline for an explaination why longshot is like this.
His....ahem... other smaller half let us in on his little secret :D

He is just insecure and threatened by you. So watch out.
He will emotionally lose it and go on the rampage attacking
everything you have to say if it doesnt agree with this
rabbit food diet. :D

peace

And I mean his question, which you still haven't answered.

Oh, OK, only Ornish has proof of his claims .. the rest are ground cow's fodder. :)

And those claims are Outstanding!
