Starbucks Brand Crashes After Announcement of Plan to Hire 10,000 Muslim ‘Refugees’

Immoral? wtf? Beliefs? Look, I'm straight and came from an age when kids (and adults) made fun of the idea of being gay. So even to this day, I'm not particularly comfortable when I see two guys kissing or making out on TV. (Two women? I'm rather more receptive.) But I grew up. I realize that people are people and should be allowed to live their lives and be happy, as long as they are not hurting anyone. What could possibly be immoral about that. Immoral is living a lie and not finding happiness where you can get it with the one life you have. Or judging those who do.

Sorry, Freddie, but I'm giving you my opinion. Religion is a part of my life, even if I don't put it out there much. You don't have to agree, but I can think however I choose.

Just about every holy book of every major religion states that homosexuality is a sin.
Fuck the holy books. They condone slavery, too. You up with that?

When will you people come to terms with the fact that these books were scrapped together by goat herders from the Bronze Age?

I understand the idea of spirituality. I really do. But adhering blindly to stupid shit is as far from it as you can get. Use the mind that defines you to actually think and feel, rather than merely and mindlessly adhere.

So based on this statement you find the treatment of homosexuals by Christians and Muslims in the modern era to be equivalent.

This may be a good time to remind you that Muslims in Africa still practice slavery.

I find bigotry abhorrent. It's only a question of degree as to how bigoted.

Spirituality comes from within. It comes from walking in the other person's moccasins. It comes from the celebration of life and love. When religion points fingers in the manner you describe, it ceases to be spiritual, and the "holy book" becomes a manual for abuse.

I didn't mention anything about holy books (I know you were responding to gwb). My beliefs are my own. Notice it is you telling me how I should think here, not the other way around. You should be happy that I am the type of person that recognizes my beliefs should have no effect on my desire for equality of rights of any individual.

That's your view of where spirituality comes from. Not everyone shares your opinion.

So you find Pope Francis to be non-spiritual, bigoted, and hateful because he condemns the practice of homosexuality?

I was only pointing out the hypocrisy of the "holy books" that I didn't bring up either. Tell me where I was wrong, Tsing? Should I have told gwb that he should continue to regard different others as lesser on his path to enlightenment and "salvation?" Perhaps I'm not up on these things.

I don't think gwb follows the "holy books" per se, I think he is showing you (as I am trying to) that others don't precisely follow your way of thinking on the subject of what is, and is not, acceptable/moral/permissible, etc.
