Stand your ground?

I support stand your ground laws and a person's right to defend themselves with lethal force if necessary. But The question I'm left asking is why someone would lay claim to being fearful of "imminent death or great bodily harm" after simply being pushed to the ground. o_O

The Trevon Martin case is relevant of course because it also was governed by Florida law. Martin not only retreated but he ran down the street, and Zimmerman shot and killed him when they got into an altercation there. And he was acquitted at trial
Zimmerman should be in jail for life.Martin retreated and the 911 dispatcher told that asshole not to follow him.Horrible miscarriage of justice.

Like others have noted, once the shooter pulled the gun, the "victim" had no weapon and no forward progress towards the shooter. The fact that the shooter hesitated after pulling out the gun and shooting seems to nullify "stand your ground" given the circumstance. As an aside, the shooter was in a heated verbal altercation with the "victim's" girlfriend with kids in the car. Not surprised he came out and shoved him to the ground, though obviously not the best move.

OMG...

You understand that you would have to reach my face right?

Belly laugh, he thinks can do the movie nose punch thing.. hahahahaha..sigh..

Go back to your comic books and 80s movies. To do this you have to hit twice, nose is made of cartilage not bone. If you got a hammer swing down and broke the bone cleanly in a circle between the eyes and THEN punch up for all your worth, you may cause some brain damage.

But you are a ninja and you know this already..

Again right wingers, why do we have to make sense when your side is packed with frikking half-wit morons?
Hey retard, this is your logic. Funny you don't understand yourself ...

This case seems one of the rare ones where nearly all agree here within reason, the guy may have got away with it legally but it sits wrong on too many levels.

I bet I would. Take your tall fat ass down so fast your ears would pop.

I gave up straight punching guys years ago when I fractured two fingers. I just swing down like a sledge to the collarbone. Would not want to smudge your eye-liner anyway Austin, you too pretty ;)

Growing up with several older brothers teaches good manners, and a year visiting in a fishing town where everyone was ridiculously Beyond Thunderdome due to the lack of non-HIV infected women...

If you ever want to take a shot, you know where I am ladyboy. My place is best as no law to speak of (cops come for bodies, that's about it) and you can get patched up practically for free.
