Russia Defaults On Foreign Debt

Common, this is what US does in the last forever. They just point gun to everyones head who doesn't follow their rules
You just accepted the USA is a tyrant

Russia's response is extremely gentle and benign to this point given the USA is totally lawless bully without any brakes. Likely because Putin is quite experienced and moderate politician, But at some point it may change. Don't expect someone who come after Putin will be so moderate

It's quite obvious US tries to corner Russia into using nuclear weapon. Totally insane policy.
Hoping Russia will strike some eastern european muppet and not directly US.
Maybe if you had president who is not demented he would understood what diaster US brings to Europe by forcing Russia into corner and did something about it.
Unfrtunatelly US comic democracy is totally disfunctional
You seem out of touch with 21st Century reality. However, I am not an expert on Russian-Ukrainian relations. Why not ask a Ukrainian for their opinion of Putin. The Ukrainians have expert knowledge of Russia and Putin.

You're delusional propaganda victim.
Do you still wear mask and got your 5th COVID shot?
I noticed most Russia haters and Ukraine supporters also we're in favor of strict lockdowns.
And before that they were obsessed with global warming

That's cute considering Russia had one of the highest covid death rates in the world. I'm well familiar with the Russian tough-guy-nothing-can-hurt me routine, it's all fun until reality sets in.

Now consider what would happen under the same circumstances in Russia. Many Russians would be reluctant to express any opinion other than a neutral or complimentary one. They will often say they have no opinion. Russians are free to express negative opinions on anything but the official Russian political position. To any citizen of a democratic country, this common behavior of Russians tells them all they need to know about the prospects for democracy in Russia; thus about the prospects of Russia being respected by the worlds' democracies. Americans respect Russians, they do not respect Russia's autocratic government, nor do they respect Russians acting on behalf of their autocratic government.

You don't have to imagine, there's a channel called 1420 on Youtube which does street interviews with Russians. Few are negative but most of the really negative views ask for faces to be blurred and voices to be distorted. Very few honestly give harsh criticism on the topic. And of course the word "war" has to be bleeped out because you know...Russia.

Delusional for you. Russia challenges that.
Nuclear power deserves to be equal.

That's the problem with the primitive Russian mindset. Power is not just about military might, it's about cultural and economic strength more so than raw military force. This has been the lesson for Russia on Ukraine. Eating potatoes and threatening everyone with nukes goes only so far.

The turnip has a special place in the Russian diet.
The humble turnip has played an outsized role in the diet of people throughout history. Ancient Greeks offered turnips as a sacrifice to Apollo, the Egyptians fed turnips to the workers who built the pyramids and turnips were the favorite dish of poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and philosopher Immanuel Kant.
But the turnip was most appreciated by early Russians. Until the 19th century, when Catherine the Great introduced the potato into the local diet, it was the primary food source for Russian peasants. The turnip grew well in the Russian climate, it produced large yields and it was easy to preserve.

It should come as no surprise that there are a lot of popular Russian expressions connected with turnips. “I want to eat some turnips, but my teeth are not strong enough” (“Поел бы репки, да зубки редки”), can be used to politely turn down a task; “this turnip seems to be as sweet as an apple for us” (“Нам и репка за яблочко кажет”) means that people do not need a lot of wealth to be happy. And almost nothing is “easier than a steamed turnip” (“Проще пареной репы”)

When you put things into perspective!
I'm not sure why people can't just negotiate sure one side will do better than the other but to save lives , destruction of infrastructure suffering its a no brainer to me .
You are applying logic, which is not applicable here. (Notice how when speaking of Russian policy we often don't say Russia or Russian policy, instead we say Putin, because Putin does the thinking for all Russians, if they object they get arrested.)

There is nothing to negotiate. Putin invaded a sovereign nation and is trying to steal its land and other assets, and kill its people.

Imagine that that Great Britain decided that the States of the United States that were once 13 British colonies should really a part of Great Britain and therefore sent the British armed forces to seize the land and assets of these States as they exist today. What would there be to negotiate?

Putin's invasion of Ukraine followed Putin's ill fated attempt to cultivate and maintain a puppet government in Ukraine under Viktor Yanukovych. [incidentally Paul Manafort, Trumps former Campaign manager and former, federal convict, was Yanukovych's political consultant in Ukraine. see https://time.com/5003623/paul-manafort-mueller-indictment-ukraine-russia/ ]

It's far from highest and lower both than UK and USA and many countries in Europe which had absolutely draconian lockdowns

but what is really cute how US and whole western covid response has shown that west is just is bunch of extreme totalitarian states
Now immigrants from poor countries even don't consider some so called "free democracies" like Australia, Canada and New zealand for immigration based on their brutality to their own people during covid
so now they gonna get complete trash instead of educated well off immigrants

So yeah, those democracy defenders in Ukraine were first claimoring for most restrictive lockdowns

West helps Ukraine to defend freedom and democracy when west doesn't have any freedom nor democracy. LOL

I can't knock on turnips as I like them and they tend to be delicious.

can't knock on turnips
Damn skippy!
Turnips and turnip greens are nutritious, store well, easy to grow and last well into december in lotsa places. Same goes for their butch cousin Rutabagas and the spicy Parsnips. All good.
