And yes.. Royal requires all passengers who claim they are vaccinated to provide proof of vaccination— which breaks DeSantis’ “rules” (which got rejected in court for applying to cruise lines).

Since Royal caters to families and does not require vaccination for under 16 until 2022 — I wonder how many of these cases were kids on this ship.

I will note that some other cruise lines are rejecting children onboard currently — hence avoiding this issue.

Royal — also allows some exemptions for adults. But they require 95% of the passengers overall be vaccinated. They control this via their booking system.

I expect Royal will tighten up after this outbreak on their ship.

Under 20% of the INFECTED were vaccinated.

On this particular cruise ship 98% of the passengers were vaccinated— which prevented a wide scale breakout involving thousands.

In many ways — this cruise situation is good news. Even in the face of Omicron in a tightly packed environment— it can be seen that the majority of vaccinated individuals were protected and the huge majority of the infections were among a tiny group of unvaccinated people.

That means of the 48 who tested positive, 47 of them were vaccinated. You're claiming that number is ~10. You seem to be at odds with the Miami herald. Are you saying they are wrong?

This is still good news from the perspective that none of the people were severely ill. And the breakout on a crowded cruise ship was confined to a mere 48 people. All thanks to vaccination.

The bad news is that until Omicron showed up -- cruise ships may have been seeing one or two people who developed Covid after testing negative at the initial boarding -- but not these type of larger breakouts with Delta, etc.

Now imagine if those on that cruise were not vaccinated... a higher risk in that they would have had a severe Covid illness, hospitalization, ICU admission, or Death.

• Had the above occurred, Cruise ships would go into lockdown again.

Their Covid protocols were probably as good as the protocols used by the NYC Anime Convention...advertising for vaccinated only while at the same time letting in VIP people without checking their vaccination status and allowing indoors "not masking".
