The extra fan may be a good thing if you don't mind the extra cost. The i7 processor does get pretty hot, especially in the dead heat of summer.

This is a question of how important it is to you that your computer must stay on if commercial power is cut. And for trading not only your computer needs to be covered. Your cable modem, your router, and everything that is needed for the internet connection would also need to be covered too. Or else your computer will stay up all right but your monitor is a black screen, or you have your computer working but no internet.

Only useful if you have a lot of USB devices. (And I suspect not). If the devices (slower devices) can share a USB port, you can get some of those USB hub (like 4-to-1) for $5.

Second thought, radist: if you don't have a lot of data to back up, you can use one of those USB thumb drives (flash drives). The going rate is about $10 for 4 GB, $20 for 8 GB. It is easier than a USB disk drive. If you have a lot of data, then the USB disk drive is more economical.

Look at those raving reviews on newegg.com. The SAMSUNG 2343BWX is a collector's item. Discontinued at every single store, other than a refurb at a huge premium. Hope you loaded up the boat.

couple years ago @ black friday i bought 28" wide screen Hanns G for my son for like 250$. works great,but i guess they not making them anymore. i also have a couple good old 19" from same manufacturer.they like 5 years old-also work fine. samsung 205BW-goes on and off by itself sometimes.

Suggest trying the computer without "noise reduction"... then if necessary replace fans and components with fans for quieter ones. The biggest noise offenders these days are usually video card fans. For other components, manufacturers appear to be at least somewhat "noise conscious".. and try to minimize.

"Noiseless fan mounts", however, might not be a bad idea. They're silicone grommets to isolate fan vibrations from the case. And for only $9, perhaps worth it.

Oh wow! I am keeping mine to sell them on ebay in a few years for some real profits! LOL :D

But I think they are out because they are replaced by newer products (probably the LED monitors not LCD).

My close second is Viewsonic brand. Third is Envision. They are all good.

May be try to find a 24-inch Samsung or Viewsonic monitors (the current models... probably some LED ones).
