I've been an organ donor since I was 16.
Never even considered not being one. I'll be dead, WTF do I care what they do with my body. Might as well help someone if I can. And I say that readily admitting I'm about as compassionate as a shark.

I've even seen housing that gets locked down after 8pm at night, no vehicles can get through the gate and there is no guard to let you in or out. I'm not even sure how they get out at all. I guess the cops have a key

Votes. That's how.

How do politicians get votes? They promise or deliver something to their constituents. Pork added to bills. Massive new giveaways like Obama phones, expanded food stamps, welfare, etc.

Obama won by doing exactly that. Even though we are out of money it's nearly impossible for government to go in the other direction. If the giveaways and pork had just grown at the rate revenues increased from private sector growth we would be fine. But, politicians, in their desire to out pork the next guy, has grown the pork at a much faster rate than the growth of revenues.

Thus, all the new taxes and push for higher rates, medicare, fica, Christmas trees, etc., etc. and the massive debt. Now we are at the end of the line. Republicans want to step back, Demcraps want to keep it full speed ahead, much of the public wants all the stuff they are now getting and for it to increase. Others want tax relief.

We are in a box with no way out unless there is unprecedented private sector growth which isn't going to happen. Any moron should be able to see what's going to happen next.
