Look at projections vs actual. I never said the hospitalizations haven't gone up. The rate of increase has flattened, which is what flattening the curve means. Jesus you doomers never give up.

Posters like you just seem incredibly ignorant at all points of this crisis. The reason governments have to take severe measures is that they know dumb asses like you won't cooperate otherwise. I see it on the trading forums and I see it here in the P&R, so much misinformation and complete bs being posted. Meanwhile, I just make a bunch of money on this special occasion and hunker down until life goes back to normal.
It's even more obvious during this crisis that certain posters are just irrational people not worth the time of day. Traders and P&R types. Down the road they'll just pretend they never said anything they posted.
Trump is trying to execute a controlled restart but there is irrational resistance by virtue-signaling leftist mayors and governors who see an opportunity to exhibit their importance.
Most of that is rooted in the leftist belief that they know better than anyone and their gleeful zeal to control the lives of the peasantry.
I mean, some rural county in fly-over country with zero booked infections and people cannot wander outside to barbecue on their own property? They can't get a freaking haircut? They can't work? Its overreach.
Its sheer and abject stupidity, promoted by all the doomer (heard that term used earlier today by someone on this forum - very apropos) commentary about how the virus is going to kill everyone the moment we open (hyperbole, but not far from the truth).

Where is it people can't barbeque on their own land? Assuming it is not a smoke issue, I don't know where people can't leave their houses if they have detached homes / gardens?
If you're a conspiracy theorist then it's accomplishing exactly what it is intended to do which is to achieve a complete meltdown of America as we know it to then be redesigned by the evil elite. If your just a cynical person like myself it's just incompetence at a staggering level with the usual suspects making the most of an opportunity to push their agendas. Fear makes people act irrationally and the media has done nothing short of a full scale psych ops war to drive panic to a fever pitch and politicians being who they are will act accordingly. Trump got played, plain and simple. Now he's in damage control mode but the tipping point has past. Score a major victory for the opportunistic left. Now we will see how this plays out post election. Democrat wins then we will be told vaccine is near, treatments are adequately handling new cases, be prudent and no need to close it all down again. Trump wins, virus is back worse than ever, no vaccine in sight, we're all gonna die unless we close it down and turn off the lights. Either way the damage already done, both to the economy and social psychology is extensive and will be sufficient to introduce many new socialist type policies and government having more control over our lives. It's only a matter of degree at this point.
